Hey, thought I should go ahead and get the ball rolling for the next TANG. THe venue has yet to be decided, but it's either going to be my house or Ratking's (Kyle's). For those of you who were put off by the enormous amount of people at the last TANG, this one is definitely going to be more of an Oregon event. We're expecting somewhere around 10-20 people at this point, so it will be much easier to get plenty of friendlies in with everyone in attendance.

I'm going to change the rules slightly, just to adhere more to the "no stages with walk off edges or walls" guidelines. Corneria will be gone since it has a wall, someone camps nearly every match, and some characters have ridiculously unfair advantages there. I'm adding Kongo Jungle (The one with the rock), despite its music. I think that is all that needs to be changed, but I'll update if anything else is modified. Other than that, the rules are the same, as are entrance fees, $5 for singles and $5 per team ($2.50 per person).

February 25th, although people can be there Friday-Sunday (My house at least).

Where: 1645 SE. Harney St. Portland OR, 97202 This is Ratking's (Kyle's) house.

Rules:
4 stock 8:00 minute limit
No Items
If time runs out, Match decided based on stock. If stock is tied, decided on %. If % is tied, Sudden Death is played out.

- Double Elimination
- Each set is best 2 of 3 (although finals may be 3 of 5)
- Dave's Stupid Rule: You can't counter pick the stage you last won on.
- Advanced SLOB picks: How to choose stage/character after a match. First loser says the stage he will pick (or say to go random), then the winner can change character, and then loser can change character.
- Double Blind if necessary: If you are worried about your opponent countering your character, you can call a double blind. You need to get a "judge" (ie. someone not playing) and all players whisper to that person which character they will pick. Then they pick the character. This is good if your opponent plays a wide range of characters that counter you and you only have a couple good characters.
- Neutral Stages (On random select): Yoshi Story, Fountain of Dreams, Pokemon Stadium, Battlefield, Final Destination, Kirby's Dreamland 64
- Counter Pick Stages (Can counter pick after losing, in addition to the neutral stages): Kongo Jungle, Rainbow Cruise, Jungle Japes, Green Greens, Brinstar, Mute City, Poke Floats, Kongo Jungle 64
All other stages are banned.

Team Rule Exceptions:
Fountain of Dreams and Mute City are banned because of lag.
Team Attack is ON
Life Stealing Allowed

- Performance Mods to controllers (short hop mod, L trigger mod, etc.) are banned. If you are caught using an enhanced controller you will be Disqualified from the tournament.
- Third party controllers can be used, but any macro, turbo, slow, or other game altering buttons can not be. If you are suspected of using those buttons, you won't be able to use that controller any longer.
- Use wavebirds at your own risk.
- If there is a problem with your controller, your opponent must pause the game and it will be looked at. If there is a problem, you may switch controllers. No match will be replayed because of a controller fault, it is your responsibility to make the problem known, and your opponent must pause the game in a reasonable amount of time.
- Glitches that in any way make a match unfinishable (IC freeze glitch for example) are banned and will result in the immediate forfeit of the match.
- Tactics that excessively stall a match (Peach wallbomb, luigi ladder) are banned and grounds for immediate forfeit of the match.

- Bring Your Own Controller.

Yeehaw. Reggie's fat.

Only one of our crew members attended last time, and from what I hear, he took last and angered many, many people...mainly us because he went alone. This time, all of us will be attending...all three of us.

And if we can somehow endure the long trip to Oregon with him.... TFK (Falco)

I think either the 21st or 28th 18th or 25th will work out for me. Of course, that's assuming I'll still be around by then.

My bad, I posted 21st or 28th, but I really meant the 18th or the 25th, which are weekends. I'll edit the post.

Aren't we all every second we live? <_<

Random morbidness aside, I meant that I'm not going to be in Oregon anymore sometime over the next few months. Mormon mission stuff.

I don't know if my friends and I will be making it to this one. For the last one, right before I left, my dad was like "Just so you know, it's gonna be a while before you do something like this again." I don't know what the **** his problem is. I would love to come, but yeah, tyranny in the household.

Anyway, I'll keep you updated.

Oh, and you definitely should not include the stage you decided to add.

I'll see what Tudios has to say about going up. I'll await the details, though my vote is for the 25th if that works out for everyone else. But I just say pick a date and see what everyone has to say about it. Oh, and keep Stage Knockout. That way I can Knockout FD against you and everyone else can knockout Green Greens.

Just make sure Low Tier isn't started at 3:00 Sunday Morning.

DJ karthik, if I were you, I might wait until someone in Grants Pass (Southern Oregon) holds a tournament. All the portland guys will most likely be there still, but it saves you at least 4 hours on your trip.

Bart, the stage I decided to add probably won't be counter picked really, but if it is, it's nnot all that bad for samus, so no worries.

Nice zeostar, hope to see you guys there, since i didn't play you at the last TANG.

Timmy, we'll see about stage knockout....

25th would be the best. On the 18th, we have a mandatory staff meeting at work, and even if I request the days off to go to TANG, I would still have to go to the staff meeting. Soooo, 25th twould be better.

I'll get everything cleared up and what not, but it is sounding like the 25th is the best option so far, so I am gonna go with that for now, im 99% sure my house will be fine also.

 I remember that. I was a moderator at Smash Bros. Online (SBO). I had to say a bunch of goodbyes and then left. No smash for two straight years. Then I came back and SBO was completely gone...! By the time YOU return, SSB3 will be out. :)

LOL! Well, understand it is our choice to go. We don't believe that there is sudden condemnation for deciding not to serve a mission. We just feel that strongly about our message and feel the need to share it for a couple years.

Don't get me wrong though... I missed smash so much. I picked it right up as I came home. :chuckle:

lol, you too?

Anyways, I'll pass on this. I need to get my own Tourney going. My first thought is to do it on the first weekend of March. Afterall, there's an ITG tourney on the weekend before that. Not that I'm any good at ITG or anything.
edit: not to mention I don't want to drive to Portland again.

Thanks for the signature Timmy, looks great.

Yeah, I figured this one wouldn't have as much draw for the Washingtonians. Hopefully I'll be able to come to some of your guys' stuff so you'll feel guilted to coming to another TANG.

That's exactly the point... It's GOOD for Samus, bad for others. But obviously it's your tourney..

BTW I'm gonna take first if I come this time..

Well, I'm not sure wat you're insinuating... but I added it because there's not much of a reason to have it off. Even so, most people probably won't pick it, so as long as it is fair-ish (no wall or walk off edges), it is acceptable.

I agree, but it was for James so I went with his main. If I had know you were hosting when I made it, I would have gone Fox McCloud for sure. No chance of me changing it; aside from me being lackadasical, my computer is having problems, so it will have to stay as it is.

Really wanted to attend the last Tang, but I was far too busy with school. There's a good chance my friend and I will be making our way down from Bremerton to check it out. We've never done tournaments before so it should be fun.

I'm not sure if this has been covered yet or not, but when exactly does it start?
