I'm just curious... Is there any way you can shorten the lag after performing a Falco Phantasm (Left/Right + B)?

I was messing around with a shortened Phantasm, and I think it would make a pretty good mind game, but there is too much lag at the end of the attack... Being able to somehow cancel the lag would really throw your opponent off. Like if you performed a shortened Phantasm, your opponent might sheild thinking you will Phantasm into them, when instead you come out of it right next to them, and set yourself up for a combo...

This is just an idea, but I haven't read anything about being able to cancel this lag, and if you can't than this is kind of worthless I guess... :(

NO.

The phantasm shortening is only for sweetspotting the ledge(like Fox illusion) and it can't be L-canceled.

But still if you want to use it as a mindgame do it very far away from your opponent.

Actually, It's less laggy if you go into your falling(skydive) animation before you land. The only way to do this however is to illusion higher, and therefore leave yourself airborne longer and vulnerable for an equivalent amount of time.

you can edge-cancel the phantasm, though it's very hard and very risky if you want to do it on the edge of the stage.

Edge-cancel=Teeter-cancel?

it's when you get into your "I'm about to fall from the stage and I like being on 1 foot looking at the bottomless void waiting there" animation.
