Wavedashing with link

Hey all,
I bet this has been asked a thousand times here, but what are some good tips for wavedashing with link? I've got the short hop down, and I can wavedash and see the puff of smoke, but every time I am able to wavedash, my shield always comes up. I let go of L as fast as I can, but this is still a problem for me. Any tips?

Keep practicing. That's the way I learned to do it without shielding or turning around.

yeah...practice is the best way. With practice, it will come faster and more natural.

it's a different timing than most charactors, more spaced out cause of his weight and jump lag. Similar to falco's and bowser's wd.

He has a slower jump so its harder to time. Practice till your fingers bleed, then put on gloves and practice more.
