okay, so i am currently working on shffld aerials... here's what i am doing:

1. i tap the control stick to start the dash animation
2. i short hop
3. i press A
4. i press down and L at the same time (fast fall and L-cancel)
5. i keep down held down and press b for a shine
6. i jump cancel the shine and repeat from step 3

any advice? am i doing anything wrong?

i also have a question that if i connect with my nair, does it take longer to get the shine up? cuz it seems like it is taking a couple frames longer than if i miss

any comments appreciated

if it's taking longer, you are probably missing your l-cancel. when i first started l-canceling, i wasn't fast falling all the way when i hit my opponet. make sure you are still fast falling if you connect.

i guess that line up of moves sounds fine, i you are getting the moves and l-cancels landed.

Dont press down and L at the same time, but learn to *watch* as your Falco hits the ground. considering delays on shields etc this is very important, especially when dairing on shields and they try to grab you in your dair -> delay -> missed LCancel if you press at the same time.
And use Cstick for aerials other then nair ok? ^^

Question: If you are trying to SHFFLC a D-Air > Shine, can you hold 'down' on the control stick, or do you have to let it go, and then press 'down' again when you Shine?

just hold it down.

Yes, it takes a split second longer than if you miss the dair. It shouldn't be enough to really mess up your timing though. Same applies to the reflector, if you hit someone with it, I think there's 2 or 4 more frames lag before you can jc it (not positive on that one, check M2K's guide or somethin), which is a bit more than the dair, I believe, and in turn makes it a tad easier to mess up on...
