Peach; why 4th?

I just started playing Peach, because the tournament I was just at this weekend had some pretty good ones. Peach, to me at least, is unbelievably amazing. Not only can she be extremely annoying, she has excellent moves. Like I said before, I just started with her; and was wondering why she's only 4th on the tier. She seems as though she could be higher. I see very little weakness in the way she plays and her moves are just incredibly insane. At the tournament, I played Sheik; and some people used Peach to try and neutralize her. Even though I got 2nd in the tournament, the Peaches I played seemed to do excellent against her.

4th out of 26 characters certainly isn't bad, and as far as I can think of, she doesn't have many flaws at all.


Her low traction gives her a short wavedash...
Which is why she can be infinately waveshined...
can be knocked off the top somewhat easily...


Actually I think it's not so much the fact that Peach has flaws, but the fact that the Top Tier character have more 'potential' so to speak.

Because a 100% no mistake perfectly good fox will do better than a 100% perfectly played peach. Peach probably has most success at most levels, but the tier is about maximum potential.

Who cares about the tier list and why shes 4th? I personally pay no mind to the tier list. It all depends on the person and their style. Some Peach players can beat Marth's and Fox's and some can't. I don't really see whats the big deal about where characters place on the tier list. I know some people who play with high and middle tier characters and whoop more @$$ than those who play with top and upper tier characters.

As others have said, if you ignore tiers, you won't have this problem. Faith in tier reliability has been weakening as of late, and they really never meant as much as they were hyped to anyway.

I dont agree with the tiers w/ a few characters. I see atttributes of each character where they are more effective than others but that doesnt simply mean they are better. Nobody can be perfect with a single character. And thats exactly what the tiers based on....Perfection. So the tier list is a lil lop sided if you get my drift.

traction/WD has to do with it. her lack of real aerials combos is another while the top tier characters either have insanely powerful aerials like sheik or combo very well like marth. peach is easily killed off the top.

and yeah, the top tier characters have more, not really that peach has flaws

Ugh. Will people PLEASE stop spouting all of this "Look at me I'm rebelling at the system/saying something controvertial" stuff with dissagreeing with the teirs? Yes your personal experience may lead you to believe something different, and no higher authority is going to think what a naughty boy you are for proudly saying to hell with what you all think. It's not an absolute, total peice of dogma, nor does it claim to be. All it is, is a measure of a characters upper limit.

Anyway - enough of that. In my honest oppinion, I do believe Peach deserves the spot she has. I play her as my main, and while the competition around here isn't really good enough for me to honestly judge how good she is against the three above her for myself, I have a feeling that against someone of equal skill playing any of them, I would be dissapointed.

Except perhaps against Fox. Currently, I have trashed every fox I have ever played, as unless your an absolute ****ing ninja with him, he can be chainthrowed into next year, the DSmash eats people who try to shine, as holding down = 68% in 39 frames, and edgeguarding him is like a beautiful dream. However, there is only so much Peach can do, but the room for improvement on Fox, with things like Waveshine-Usmash just doesnt leave her room to guard/DI/recover, and at a high enough percentage, the Fox can just DAir into you, shine before you can grab/land a hit, then dash into you and knock you off the top. But untill they can pull stuff like that out, then they don't scare me. I find I can usualy float about to mess up attempted Shinespikes enough to get back on the stage, and if I get a Fox off the edge, 8/10 times it just dies from edgeguarding. Or at the very least takes a good 50+% with failed UpBs untill I **** up and they manage to penetrate the titanic hitbox of her ***.

However, I'm holding a tournament in England on the 15th, and a fair few people are turning up. Hopefully I can experiment further against a better fox o.o;

Interesting, where abouts in England? I was unaware anyone bothered with tournaments over here.

A lot of the tier lists are about matchups as well (hell, that's a lot of the GAME). Marth matches well against a ton of people because of his range, and (let's face it) Shiek and Fox are just too ridiculously fast and combo-happy for most people.

I main Peach (for the moment), and really her mind games are the biggest technique you need to master to throw off the matches that she doesn't do so hot in. Float and jump in alternation, have vegetables flying everywhere...whatever it takes to throw off the opponent's strategy.

I personally like Peach where she is...
She handles everyone close (there are exceptions) to the same, has a good move set, and a lot of mind game potential most of the other characters don't have (except I.C's and Marth maybe, a well played Luigi can be a headache too :S) She just doesn't have the huge advantages like the Char's above her, thats really all. I'd say peach for top if her fair was faster, but we dont need another sheik running around...

And for deox, you'll agree with every Peach that it's nice to have an option (the float) to avoid those pesky SHL's, unlike, say, Ganon, who gets to stand there and take it.

Peach has it all when at metagame, and has no glaring flaws. The ones above her are more potent, and have that extra "oomph" to kick em up above her.

I'm not sure if 4th isnt good enough for anyone here... I just think people are curious if she should be higher... but anywho... I feel you playing the low tier. I secondary luigi and he isn't as low as pichu obviously, but he's still pretty low... I just can't stand the Peach vs. Shiek matchup... It annoys me like no other.

Just don't worry about what the tier list says. It dosen't say that one character is better than another. You see, there is a possibility that any character can beat any other character. It's that way and the tier list should not make you think otherwise, Basically, it's not there to say who is the best.
Anyway, i am a peach player and I think if she's there on the tier list then that's where she is. What is there to do about it? Peach is an excellent character, but there are other characters that are also good. It's not saying there better, but someone has to be in the fourth spot and that's peach.

Peach dies of fox' waveshine combos, marth's fthrow and tipper (try it on YS it's fun!), and of sheik's tilts and fairs. The top tiers not only have a greater advantage over Peach, but over a great amount of other characters aswell.
4th is a place just fine for Peach. With her float, her dsmash, her turnips, and her recovery, she places herself top tier. While her disadvantage to be comboed by current top tiers and the chance of her easily getting killed off the top, leaves her out.

i agree with phish and jacer, i love peach i jes think that the developers could have given her up tilt some different properties or have given her a completely different up tilt all together like...she does another move with her crown like her fair, and she holds it and does the same thing that Zelly does with her uptilt well anyway yeah. also what me n a couple of poople do to make up for her poor traction is to WD but hold the stick at a more horizontal position when you do it, when i execcute it this way it goes as far as mario's "standard WD"
