Hey i just need some tips on how to shine falcos fire bird or foxes firefox when its coming towards u (because u jumped off the egde and were about to shine it when it was charging and you were too late) Any tips on making this easier?

Well, I know you don't wanna hear this, but just practice it. It's all about timing. This is something you can practice in training mode easily, just set Falco to a high enough percent, and then throw him off the edge, wait for him to Firebird, and try to Shine him. Try throwing him off at different percents because he'll go to different spots.

Another thing you can do is just try to speed up your reactions so that you get to him while he's still charging. You can practice this in training mode, the same way, just throw him off and try and Shine him while he's still charging.

Hope this helped... Good luck! :)

if you have about 0%-50% you can be hit by the firefox while crouching without falling. So you can shine it easily

Try to shine him with the back of your shine, it has more range.

ok i really appreciate these tips, but its going to take time to remeber to do things such as turn the opposite direction before shining his firebird or something. Any more tips?

You don't necessarily need use the shine range BEHIND you, but it is quite useful. If you don't have time, just shine him face first, you just need to get the timing right. Or, if you grab the ledge quickly enough, you can take advantage of your invincibility frames and shinespike the firefox/firebird easily. Sometimes, shinespiking isn't always the best choice, if the Fox/Falco is charging, then I'd recommend shinespiking. If they are far away and you think they're going to sweetspot, steal the ledge. If you think they're not going to sweetspot, then just edgeguard with an fsmash if you get the timing right, even an ftilt works fine too. If you're already on the ledge, then you're obviously facing backwards at them already, giving you more shine range to hit them, so just shinespike them, even if they're charging, or already going at you with the flaming attack.

Thanks for the info and shinespiking with the back of the shine is a lot easier for when they are coming at u. Is there any specific timing i can work with until i get used to shining them? like count to three and shine or something like that lol? Like if anyone knows how long it takes before u they actually get to u and u should shine them. that would be great for training with until i get good enough just to know when.

When you are not certain that you can shinespike, then just wait for him, grouch, tail whip him(he'll go upward diagonally and unconciouss while ascending) jump after him and shinespike, then edgehog. ..........later

Actually, human opponents would use the illusion move more than fire move, especially if they're using falco. But the only way to practice shining the illusion is against another player.

yah, but let me give u a scenario AnubisGX. He goes off of what i do. So if i jump out then he'll illusion and if i stay on the edge he'll firebird.

I find that if they are sweeetspotting with the firebird/fox or the illusion/phantasm, a well-timing dsmash is the best thing for it. But it's sooo much cooler to shine them out of it.

BTW, It's really easy to shine fox/falco out of the b forward, because there's a little noise before it. When you hear it, use the shine. Its really easy. =)

I find staying on the stage and trying to shine their Fire bird/fox is much harder than jumping of and shining it when its moving towards you. Or maybe I just get lucky a lot in the air.

firstly, you shoudlve searched for this as it has been asked before

but anyway, this really isnt that hard. illusion is not that bad once you get it down. best just to do this when they are trying to sweet spot. roll, hold down, time the B for shine

fire fox shine is best to just jump out and hit them while they are charging. hitting while they are going is more difficult but not THAT THAT .......... THAT hard. it is just more risky

How about, you stand on the edge waiting for either the illusion or fire, if he illusions, shine him, if he firebirds, then he must be somewhat close to the edge, you can either jump out and shine spike him, or edge hog because the firebird covers less distance than the illusion.

i think the fire bird has more distance at least with fox

i also have this problem, when i try to shine a fire fox, i got hit at the chargeing fream and some times it end up costing me a stock, that is one reason i sometime use bair to edge guard but is not a guaranteed kill. should you use shine before you even get close to fox or there is other thing else that i should do
