I've found put if you beat Mr Game&Watch all of them in All-Star mode on Normal was it's counting of the score bonus points do the double jump! Press A, hold control stcik up and B and here are the points:

1 Second in air - 4500
2-4 Seconds in air- 5060
5 seconds in air- 9000
Half Twist - 30000
Full Twist - 50000

Here's a better hint:
G&W is fast and strong, but takes more damage.
Attack, then get out. B down can deal up to a whopping 120% damage, if do it right.
