Okay, because there have recently been a lot of annoying displays of ignorance and floppy logic, I have made this thread to clear up all misconceptions and misinterpretations of things you might find on the internet.

First off. The only confirmed characters are listed colorfully in the first page of the confirmed characters thread. Many others from Melee are very likely, but we can't exactly say they're confirmed.

And the only confirmed stages are listed in the confirmed stages topic. One is definitely Metaknight's stage. The other two are probably Angel Land, from Kid Icarus, [although some say it's just a re-hash of Battlefield]. and a Fire Emblem stage [although some people say it looks like it's from Zelda]. This debate cannot be resolved at this point, and it's probably better left alone.

Second. The Blog on Sakurai's Smash Bros Dojo mentions a little bit about, how Smash 3 would have been done if he had not taken up directorship.

The idea that all 26 characters will be left exactly as they were in Melee is simply false. The site where people submit ideas to Sakurai even says not to assume that all previous characters must be kept.

Lastly, If you read something on Wikipedia that contradicts or adds to the information we have here, it might be false. We'll have to wait a while for any more real information, so just be patient and don't be sucker. Remember Wikipedia can be edited by Anyone. You could make it say America was founded by Crack-addicted Ninja's during the Second Coming of Jesus if you wanted.

Bottom line: it's not a reliable source.

There will probably be more confusion and misunderstandings to come, so Scav feel free to hijack this topic how you see fit, and put in anything else the n00bs would need to know. The Spam is getting ridiculous.

No, you're right, they created this forum just for 100% facts, and absolutely no speculation. ^^

No, but his point is that confirmed means confirmed, an all speculation on unconfirmed information should take place outside of the confirmed information topics.

I'm currently thinking of a few things we can do to reduce the spam. Sorry I've been absent the past few days, I was doing the whole College Graduation thang.

And I like the idea that people will make posts for me to hijack. Makes work a lot easier for me ^_^

But anyways, the forum will be mostly speculation -- but that's the problem. We want good speculation. Not redundant topics about redundant ideas.

Nobody reads "official" topics. The best thing we can do in regards to posts like this is to get an official "position" rather quick. That's why I've left most closed topics in the room, for instance. If I just left them in the rubbish bin, nobody would see that the topic was not allowed. In these first few confusing months, we have the unenviable job of establishing how the room will be run. Which is especially hard considering we don't know how yet :p.

Speculation is good, but spam and redundancy is not. Topics like this "clearing everything up" won't help a whole lot, but there are a few things we can do. For now, just put on an argumentative hat and make your opinion known. If an argument gets too ridiculous, then let me know.

I strongly believe the Greek-style one is Pit's stage. I also think the castle one could be from The Legend of Zelda - the Twilight Princess. After all, the game is supposed to be a lot more "adult"-like.

It's quite plausible it's from TPP especially since TPP Link is in SSBB and one of the first confirmed characters. Meanwhile, we haven't seen squat of Marth nor Roy. It would be downright stupid to have a Marth/Roy stage without having decided whether or not they'll be kept in the game.
