SoCal Roadtrip (June 26 - July 5) - NORCAL/OREGON/SKYPAL/BC

This thread is about organizing a Road Trip by Socal to unify the West Coast.

For 9 days (June 26 - July 4), a crew consisting of about 7-8 Socalers will be doing a road trip up and down the Interstate 5. The main purpose of this is to have a crapload of fun. We wanna get some sights in, not just Smash ourselves silly. We plan on doing Yosemite, Frisco's gay scene for ChuDat, Oregon, Pike Market, Space Needles and any random stuff this awesome coast holds!

Even though I'm a very new West Coast Smasher, we could all agree that West Coast could do better in unifying and getting to know each other better. Some could even say our disconnectedness (is that a word?) led us to lose crews in FC3. This road trip aims to break barriers and narrow the borders between each other. The best players aren't visiting to enter a tournament (although I'm sure they'd like it anyway), the main reason is to MEET you guys.

So what NOR*CAL/OREGON/SKYPAL/BC CANADA needs to do is to stick around this thread,
until Ken and I create and release a realistic itenerary. We'll need to use this thread to make sure everything works when it happens. As for housing, we would happily take what we can get, and it would be extremely appreciated. I think we can wing it through motels and whatnot in case housing fails, but as long as everyone has the time for us, this can prove wonders for the West Coast side for OC2. I will be recording everything with Ken's pending new camera for a WC Montage to promote the region, so don't forget your sexy sexy Smash Skills!

Make friends. Play Smash. And keep it real. This is going to be FUN... Oh. I hope gas doesn't **** us over.

Well, what dates exactly are you planning on doing this road trip/being in Oregon? I will be in Florida from June 20th to around July 2nd-4th. I would love to be able to play with you guys travelling around though, so definitely keep this posted and all.

We are going anytime between June 19 and July 3. That is right after MLGLA and unfortunately smack bang during your Florida trip. Exact dates aren't confirmed but the travel will definantly be done within this time.

Heh, how extremely unfortunate. You could still possibly stop by around this area, because Grants Pass seems to have a decent amount of smashers, and hopefully more by the time you come around. I'm gonna start trying to have some kind of weekly tournament or something, but we will see.

Oregon is always happy to house Smashers. There's not a lot in Oregon to see except all the natural scenery, no space needles or golden bridges, just trees. But the trees are one reason why I love this place.

Any of you can stay at my place. Oregon is trying to organize a BIG TANG (TANG is our monthly tournaments) if you guys wanna try to set something up, we will organize a big one with a decent sized entry fee when you guys come through. This idea sounds awesome though.

SKYPAL is aware of this thread. I'll be discussing housing options with my people in the upcoming week. In all likelyhood we'll find you a place to stay, but of course no guaruntees until I get the consent of my peers etc..

Can we get a shoutout for who's all going? It'll be fun to get some casuals in against you guys--we only ever seem to play in serious environments. ^_~

START

June 26 - Leave Socal in the morning, arrive in Yosemite
June 27 - Leave Yosemite in the evening, arrive in Bay Area *housing needed*
June 28 - Bay Area *housing needed*
June 29 - Leave Bay Area in the morning, arrive in Portland *housing needed*
June 30 - Leave Portland in the evening, Arrive in Seattle/Vancouver *housing needed*
July 1 - Seattle/Vancouver *housing needed*
July 2 - Seattle/Vancouver *housing needed*
July 3 - Leave Seattle/Vancouver, arrive in Bay Area *housing needed*
July 4 - Leave Bay Area for Socal
July 5 - Everyone should be back home

Due to MLGLA being on June 23-25, this leaves us with a rather tight road trip, which must end on July 4.

The biggest issue so far is BC. Not only because of the border, but also because we cannot drive there unless someone from WA or BC can take us there and back. Since it's fairly close to Seattle, I decided to throw in BC, but it's place within the overall scheme of things is not yet known. Socal currently has no means of reaching Vancouver, and since Seattle has priority over BC, it'll get the most time. If Socal ends up not reaching Vancouver, I think the next best thing would be to invite BC over to WA.

If any British Columbian or SKYPALIAN can solve this problem, I will be super grateful. I'd prefer to include Vancouver as a part of the tour, because in the end we want to travel.

You'd better call Yosemite like, RIGHT NOW, and ask about reservations. Cuz there's no way you'll find a camping spot within 100 miles if you just show up at the end of June.

I think id be so awesome to see socal in oregon, but in all honesty, theres nothing but skeevy stoners here in oregon, and trees, so just stay on I-5 N and watch the trees as you drive through to washington

i went to ask my mom if you guys can stay over for the time your up here in the bay.. and i completley forgot.. that shes going over seas for that period of time..

so.. the only other person i could ask would be my sister. and.. yeah i might as well not even try.. lol

but i will though.. most likley itll be a no though.. cause shes a biiiiiiiitch about these things. ****.
