View Full Version : Best stage to counter pick as IC's
I would like to think it would be Final D seeing as how it has no platforms to stop Chain throwing, but I would like some other input as to what is the best level to play with as the ice climbers?

FD (yah chaingrabbing and easy juggling), Dreamland (live forever still can cg), fountain of dreams depending who u fight (immobilize opponents aerials due to wacky platform changes).

I always go FD or dreamland, I cant stand the platform changes on fod, they always mess me up somehow.

I would say dreamland is better than the others cuz its easier for killing fastfallers and u do live longer, plus its a long stage for better ics mind games as well as cging. Also dreamland is way better stage to fight peach, samus, and fastfallers then the others like fod(can be hard to fight peach cause of the small stage and platforms peachs d-smash can really work against you on this stage and samus isnt taht bad on this stage either) and fd(can be hard to fight samus on cause of missles spam and harder to get around d-smash and up-tilt on edge guard)

I didnt say it was a GOOD stage for fighting samus I said its better than fighting samus on fod cause of fod is like a playground for samus, and fd can be hard dependin on the samus likes to missle spam.I do agree with yoshi story tho, didnt think of that one.

Fountain of Dreams, hands down. My best and favorite stage...... wavedashin so easily and edgeguarding is like a walk in the park for me. Chaingrabbing can be a problem here so otherwise you should choose FD unless its samus. Those two stages are just pure ownage for IC's.

I really dont see fountain of dreams being a good stage for the ice climbers, the platforms moving screw up my chains and sometimes they are the cause of me losing nana. This could be good in the ice climbers favor sometimes because of stopping the opponents movement and free smashes through the platforms but vs some characters I dont see that being better than the ability to chain grab them to death.
Ice x, why would wavedashing and edgeguarding be any different on fod than any other neutral stage?

Uh It's just a psychological thing. Ex: why would people fear drinking water from a toilet? It's exactly like the water from your faucet. See it's just a mind thing.
Fod just seems easier for me since it's my best stage.

I personally like Battlefield quite a lot, mostly because there's room to chaingrab but there are also platforms to abuse up-air and b-air with. What is more, blizzard edgeguards sometimes suck people under the stage if they're DI'ing towards you by accident. The stage isn't so big that your chargeup grab-smashes can't kill, but it gives you an advantage with proper DI. Oh, and the edge is almost NEVER a problem for your IC's, except in weird up+b'ing instances.
I don't like FD as much, because it becomes trickier to land up-airs and back-airs which make up most of my damage dealing game. Skilled opponents that only permit grabs very infrequently are much harder to take advantage of on this stage. I find it depends largely on which character you're playing against. I don't like fighting Peach there, but I do enjoy fighting Ganon and Falcon. Not Fox very much... Falco isn't much fun here, but he's a fairly simple edgeguard so that's alright. He also lacks horizontal speed to avoid your wavedashing moves, so enough pressure and he'll eventually make a mistake. Then make sure he dies for it...
That's all my input for now, can't think of much else to say.
Well, I would like to play battle field, but in alot of tourneys, if the venue doesn't ban it, usually the player does BECAUSE of its ledges

Depends if they know you play IC's though. Most people would fear the chaingrabs and ban FD, or Dreamland for your survivability. Maybe they'd ban Yoshi's because it's such a small stage and your downsmash kills people at 50 and 60 percent, should they mess up their DI. Depends on who THEY play as.

Someone should just post every charecters stages that would be a disadvantage for playing against the ic,
ie. Marth: battle field, p stadium....
Sheik: FD, battle field
And so on. I don't have enough insides to know this type of info but would love to see it to learn
