This just hit me. Do you think they will/should translate the speech of these Fire Emblem stars? I've got mixed feelings... on the one hand, somehow it seems like their speech would be more annoying if I could actually understand it, but on the other, I would also like to be able to understand them. Maybe if they had a couple different voice clips for each speaking action, to keep it from getting as repetitive? Opinions?

Hell no! Their voices were fine in Melee. Keep them Japanese. It's better that way!

In the promo for SSBB they have Snake speaking in Japanese. I doubt they would include the Japanese actor in the promo video and not have him in the actual game.

With Snake speaking japanese i assume Marth and Roy would also not be translated. Besides, i don't want to know what Marth says when he shows off. I think it would sound corny in English.

Lol i wouldn't care either way. When I play Melee i have the language to Japanese so Jiggly becomes Purin and Bowser becomes Koopa. Foxes taunt is also Japanese and I spent a couple of hours seeing what I can do in the Japanese that I can't do in English.

No, mainly because MOST character voices sound like crap when translated.

No because the Japanese are very keen on making bi-lingual puns. They use japanese syllables that sound like English phrases and it shows. Just listen with a little bit more of an open ear next time.

I think they should keep it japanese. But personally i think it would be cool if they let charcters have both english and japanese taunts. Like fox having his "come on" taunt along with his japanese one.

Honestly, David Hayter (voice actor for Snake in virtually all Metal Gear Solid games) is a wonderful voice actor and although his gruff voice can sound a bit faked at times, it fits the persona of Snake perfectly.

I think the option should be there for those who prefer English speech. If the voice acting is anything like the Soul Calibur games, I'd at least have the option to change it back.

I would prefer for them to speak Japanese. If you want to know what it means, just ask someone who speaks the language. Then tell other people if you want them to know.

This is more along the lines of what I was thinking. I should have made myself more clear - obviously, there will always be hordes of people who prefer the Japanese voice acting, but I was thinking it might be nice to have English speech for those who use the English language setting.

Every character should have their original voice...and speak in their original language.
Marth & Roy = Japanese
For those with multiple voices (Fox, Falco and apparently Snake) there should be an option to change the language.

If you want to know Marth says something like "ooo look at me" or something along those lines. everything else is just grunts
