Okay, I'll bite, but only cuz' I love Resident Evil.

Heroes are probably more likely than villans if only one character is allowed (And I'd rather play as the heroes anyway, as cool as Wesker and Krauser are) I think either Claire or Jill would be the most likely (Shinji Mikami loves his RE ladies), and my pick would be definately be Jill (RE1 Jill, not Skanky RE3 Jill). She is basically the first RE star, along with Chris, and she has evolved as a character throughout her two game tenure. She has many non-gun items to peruse from (Since Sakurai doesn't like the idea of "Real" guns in SSB) Like a Flamethrower, and A bazooka. You could probably get away with the grenades or RE4 and Her Tazer from the GC Remake of RE1. Most of her A-moves would use punches and kicks, but her smashes would use her knife.

Also, ignore her appearance in MvC2 for this moveset, I'm taking her from my own imagination.

Howsabout this for a Moveset:

B - Tazer: Short-ranged attack that causes some damage and stuns the enemy briefely. very quick. Can easily parry most items and projectiles, but cannot reflect them.
Bsmash - Bazooka: will cause her bazooka to fire in an arc. The arc is controlled somewhat like Yoshi's eggs, except with a kickback and effect more like Samus's missiles.
Bup - Flamethrower: On the ground, this is a medium-range flame thrower aimed straight ahead. In the air, this is a flame attack downward to add a little height to jumps. Flames will continuousely fire as long as B is held on the ground, and you can aim the fire stream up and down. In the air it is much more rigid.
Bdown - Grenade throw: She throws a grenade along the ground. It explodes after 1 or 2 seconds. Savvy Opponents or Jill herself can pick up the grenade and throw it into a safer, or more chaotic location.

Super - Nemesis: Jill summons the Nemesis to the field. She proceeds to have a fight with Nemesis, mostly by dodging around and letting Nemmy's tentacles fly around the field, hitting unlucky characters. Jill herself will never take damage from Nemesis. Lucky projectile-artists can cancel her out of this move with a well aimed item or missile, but more often than not, she will be covered up by Nemesis' tentacles.
If a character is hit by Nemmy's attacks, there is a chance that they will be "zombified." Zombified characters cannot control their own movements for a limited amount of time, but cannot be KB'd (Similar to a Redead with infinite life) But % will still be racked up. If a zombified character is able to reach a normal character, they will do an attack similar to what the Redeads do. THAT character will then have a % chance of being zombified, and so on. Any one character automatically dezombifies after 5 seconds, or after 100% of damage. It is possible for Jill to be attacked by the zombified characters Nemmy created.

Taunt - How about "It never ends" or something morbid like that.

Why Heroes over the most popular character form RE? He may not be a hero, but Wesker can easily beat Claire in popularity and give Jill a run for her money. Wesker easily fights melee with his super T-Virus strength, has been in twice (if not more) as many games as Jill and Claire and pwns Krauser :P. Also, I think Chris would have higher chance then those two. Also, may I ask why you'd rather play as a hero over a guy with a giant claw for a right hand or super strength :P?

Hrmm.... I would have to go with Wesker. He would make a perfect melee character. His strength from the T-Virus would make him more likeable as a character rather than people seeing jill and saying "woah, Jill's like a normal person but can jump so high and knock people 10 ft back!"

So yeah definately wesker.

I dunno...Resident Evil characers don't really suit a game where balls pop up releasing monsters who have abilities and a heaving huge ugly monster (bowzer for example) can be wacked thousand sof miles away by a hoe run bat...

Well, think about how the franchises have been introduced and developed in the SSB series. First, the heroes are introduced (Everyone in SSB, Roy and Marth in SSBM) Then, and only then do they introduce villan characters (Bowser, Gannondorf, and Mewtwo are only in SSBM, and are villans to characters that appear in the first game). Structurally when I think about SSBB, unless they add two or even three characters from a series, there won't be any villan representation.

Also, In Jill Vs. Chris. Chris is a man. RE has always been about the ladies (Even when you play as men, it's always about the ladies. See Ada in RE4, Claire in RE2, Jill in RE1) And if you wanna talk about how many games they've been in, I have to point out that Jill has two entire games to her name while Chris has one and half of a game that basically belongs to Claire. Then again, that looks like him in the RE5 trailer, so maybe that will change :p

(Edit: Wesker has officially been in 3 games. 1, Code Veronica, and 4, and he only played an active role in the first two he was in. Kind of like Jill's two full games, plus her countless cameos in other Capcom franchises.)

Super strength is moot in SSB. If he was strong, they'd probably have to nerf him hard in other areas, and I'd rather play as a pumped up Jill than a nerfed Wesker.

Also, she's a girl. I love playing as the girls in fighting games. I'd probably move over to Jill from Peach if it actually happened. (Too bad Capcom would probably choose Megaman or Viewtiful Joe first. Oh well.)
