Hey all, I have been having some trouble trying to do the nanapult. I've been trying to get it down all afternoon, and can perform it like 1 of 5 tries. Do you guys use x/y to jump with nana or just the joystick? I've been able to do it both ways but neither with any consistency. A lot of the time when I try it Popo will also run forward or do a Squal hammer while nana is falling and blizzarding. My controller inputs are usually something like this:

desync with spot dodge or taunt
b, b (ice attack thing)

dash left or right real fast

push Y to jump nana

and like .1 seconds after that down and B

Do you guys hold down the stick and B while doing it or just tap it?

also is it better to make the joystick straight down or diagonally down?

any help is appreciated

The way you do it is the same way I do it, I guess you just need to practice it to get the timing down.

I actually dont know if I tap the stick or hold it, I never really took notice.

Yeah I kept practicing with various methods and found that I can do it just about every time now when I do:

(desync)
Just a tiny delay after Popo's ice block goes out I tap the joystick left or right and at the same time push Y (or X) and right after I tap Down + B.

I guess the most important part is timing the beginning of the button combo after the 2nd ice block. If you don't tap down + B fast enough nana won't do the extra hop for the extra distance/height.

I think (well, it worked for me) the best way to practice in order to finally control the nanapult is to go to the training mode, choose FD. Hold down the shield till it breaks, make sure only popo's shield break, (do not desynch!! just by holding less or more your shield button you can make it) now, you will have total control of nana to practice the nanapult.
Once you have total control of this part, it will be easier for you to make it out of the iceblock's desynch...
After this, I'm sure you will answer your very own questions about the nanapult...training hard, you must! young padawan... hmmm

Thanks, deivit. I like that shield-popping technique. Never thought of doing that before. Works wonders for practicing the button order/speed on a number of desyncs.

Well, I must say: that's one of the most original training methods I've heard of! For me, though, I got my practice by desynching w/iceblocks (simplest, 4 me), slamming the control stick to the right/left, then "y," then down+B. Pretty good advice, eh? NO?!?! ok...

Wow, deivit and Dern are like the same person! Same avatar & post count! o.0

personally, how i perform it and how i practiced was by doing the two ices, then tapping forward on the control stick then immediately(while still holding stick) push x or y, then hit downB immediately. nana should finish the sequence herself. if you land it on the opponent (which i almost never manage to do) try to run up and grab or dash cancel into a Dsmash
