View Full Version : Best way to improve IC techniques?

I was wondering what's the best way and/or order to improve IC techniques. For example in my case was:

1. Wavedash (With IC it's all about the wavedash)
2. Grab combos (remember what to do against whom)
3. Desynch (keep always in mind you have to desynch everytime you can)
4. SHFFL

I'm still stuck with the SHFFL part, I know this is not the whole story, there's many parts missing. But that's what I'm asking for, like a list where you tell me the order of the techniques you mastered and hopefully the best way to achieve it.

I know this will be very useful, cause at first I saw all this videos and I tried to do everything at once, at the end, I did nothing and finished disappointed and thinking about leaving the IC!
Let's give a hand to that little popo opening his way thru that ice cold world or for those who can't entirely achieve their way to the top!

As someone that doesn't get nearly enough human competition, I find the Climbers a great choice because I can still work on my game with them because of the technical aspects deivit listed. It's great to go in and just wave dash around, refine my smash timing, work on my own reflexes for what I might use as a fake out or a quick desync to counter or grab.

The mind game part comes from playing actual people and adapting to experience, but that will come with any character you focus on. The climbers are probably one of the easiest to get a feel for practicing solo so you can bring a solid tech game to the table when you play people.

Number 2 should be #1, and #3 shouldn't even be in there. It's not the most important.

LOL @ grab combos coming before SHFF. You can't do the good chain throws without being able to SH consistently. And there's no use desynching if you can't wavedash after an ice block, or SHFFL a bair into someone stuck in a blizzard, etc etc.

So the list should read:
1. Wavedashing
2. SHFFLing
3. Desynching
3.5. Grab combos.

That's what I'm talking about!
Maybe I didn't explain myself well, what I'm looking for it's for u to post like the order of which techniques you were achieving or mastering.
That was my list and believe me, I had a bad time with it, that's why I'm asking you to post yours, and remember to put other techniques that you may find important.

I just realized my post might sound a little rude. I wasn't laughing at you, deivit, but at Ice X, whose order is completely out of whack. Your list is good, except I moved SHFFling up. Wavedashing is clearly the most important, and SHFFling a close second; sure, you're ignoring the two things that really differentiate the ICs from the rest of the cast, but you can't master the specifics before getting a handle on the general techniques.

Don't worry Nealdt, I found your post very accurate. That's the reason of my "that's what I'm talking about!" cause you posted your opinion and the order you consider important.

I meant imo that grab combos come before shffl. I think it's more important, but it's opinion.

I think you sorta missed the point there Ice X. Neal was pointing out that you NEED to SH consistantly in order to use effective grab combos. ie d-throw SH d-air. So SHHFL comes before grab combos
