WELCOME TO NATT!
Okay, yeah, doesn't need a name really. People were asking about having a nice, small tourney in the Dallas/Plano/whatever area, and so Drew and I are trying to piece together something fun. With the aid of ZachSoup, we're going to have a neato thing. Tournament.
Okay, here's the deal.
This Saturday, June 3st.
2v2 and 1v1 will both happen, 2v2 occurring first.
FIVE dollars for each player in 2v2.
TEN dollars for each player in 1v1.
Now, we're looking at using the Xtreme Player's Zone in Flower Mound Texas. Their address is as follows:
2021 Justin Road
Flower Mound, TX 75028
Their phone # is:
972 - 539 - 1559
Their website is: http://www.xtremeplayerszone.com
If we use this big happy official LAN center, then we'll probably be looking at a registration fee of 3-5 dollars.
::Edit, as of Tuesday, May 31st::
We have a confirmed locale for the tourney! We will be using the Xtreme Player's Zone, all information stated above. The entrance is 5 dollars registration, 5 dollars for each person in your 2v2 team, and 10 dollars for 1v1. We have 4 TV's for use.
The time to show up and sign up and get your free play and warmups on is 12:30.
The tourney will begin at 1:30. If you aren't signed up by then... well, no biggy, we'll try and fit you in, but don't be too late. We're doing 2v2 first, then 1v1s. There is no set time to end it, but using Drew's glorious experience we can manage this thing pretty quickly and still have a good time. Eh? Eh?
As of right now we need:
3 GAME CUBES. I'm pretty sure we can make this goal easily, however, as Felix is offering a cube, Drew has one, DoH has one, Zach has one, FloMo guys have one... we'll make it. We might need a 4th copy of smash, and I advise that once you have the cube set up, take your memory card OUT. We don't want unattended stuff getting jacked.
That is all. If anything changes, I'll let you know.
Also edit: We don't need Zach's place. Hence that info has been removed. Silly, silly Drew. You with your "expediency" and your "lack of clutter in the post so that people don't have useless information." Silly.
New edit!
1v1 Double Elimination Tournament.
4 stock, 8 minute time limit, sets are 2 out of 3. All "final" matches are 3 out of 5. This means: winner's finals, loser's finals, and final final finals.
Random stages: Rainbow Cruise, Yoshi's Story, Fountain of Dreams, Pokemon Stadium, Battlefield, Final Destination, Dreamland 64, DK64.
Banned Stages: Hyrule, Flatzone, Termina, Green Greens, Yoshi 64, Fourside, Princess Peach's Castle, Big Blue, Mushroom Kingdom 1, Onett, Yoshi's Island (pipes), Venom. Yes, Icicle Mountain is permitted. No, I don't think anybody will pick it. But I don't think it should be banned and it's my ruleset so :P
Obviously, any stage that is not random or banned may be selected as a counter-pick. How do counter-picks work? Well...
Advanced Slob Picks: The first stage will be selected at random, or can be any random stage that both players agree upon. The player who loses the first match will then pick the stage. The previous winner will select his character, and then the loser will select his. This applies to the 3rd match, if there is one.
Dave's Stupid Rule: You may not select as a counter-pick any stage you won on previously during a set.
Rob's Better Rule: Dave's Stupid Rule doesn't apply to sets that are 3 out 5.
Stage Striking: You may strike one stage from the random OR counter-pick list before the first match is chosen. After that, the list is decided for the set and you may not select a stage to strike any longer. Even if you strike a stage, you may use it as a counter-pick.
Banned Stuff: You may not use any tactics that directly stall the match or prevent the other player from participating. This means: no stalling with Peach's wallbombing or Jigglypuff's rising pound. You may recover using these tactics, but you may not stall with them. Additionally, there is to be no IC freeze glitching, and no IC grab infinites. This means you, Zach.
And me. *cough cough*
For 2v2, same rules apply... EXCEPT...
Random Stages: Rainbow Cruise, Yoshi's Story, Termina, Pokemon Stadium, Battlefield, Final Destination, Dreamland 64, DK64.
Banned Stages: Fountain of Dreams, Flatzone, Venom, Green Greens, Yoshi's Island (pipes), Hyrule Temple, Mute City, Brinstar Depths, Fourside, Big Blue
Life-stealing is allowed!
Friendly fire is on!
I think that's all, but I'm a forgetful man. Let me know if anything slipped my mind.
