Ryu should without a doubt be capcoms represenative in brawl.
I've heard megaman suggested, but I say no because he's too parralel in appearance to samus.

And besides, Ryu is perfect for smash! the move list writes it self

up+B Shoryuken

Forward+B Hadouken

Down+B Tornado kick (forget the offical name)

neutral B, not sure. maybe some short range high priority guard breaking punch kinda like jigglypuffs neutral.

And don't forget, Ryu did debut his Cosole career on the SNES. After being an arcade hit, Street Fighter 2 was on the Super Nintendo first and foremost. I think Tornado kick would make a better >B and Hadoken can be just B.

I do not endorse this character. That said, he would be very easy to add, seeing as how he's already got specials and A moves to draw from. You should move the Hadouken to neutral B and make foreward B into the Joudan Sokutou Geri from SF3. (Its a foreward-moving thrust kick)

I understand people's reasoning for neutral b-hadouken, but I think forward B is better since it would let the move have different speeds, like it did in the street fighter games when done with different strength punches. heck maybe neutral B could just be the slowest one, I mean Ryu does traditionally only have 3 moves, hadouken tornado kick and shoryuken. this way the neutral one could be slow and charge, mid-forward B one faster no charge, smash-forward fastest and maybe red instead of blue?

I should see what it looks like, but sounds to me like that could just be a smash-attack.

I really hope Ryu actually has a chance of making it in, my only fear is that people would see a SF character and think of all those VS games. MvsC, CvsSNK, etc.

and Ryu would be such a generic fighter to, no clue where he would end up tiers-wise. It would basically just depend on how much speed and power they let him have

I just personally wouldn't want 2 characters with arm for cannons in the game, and besides Ryu is way better character to have in a fighting game. Honestly, Ryu is THE quintissential fighting game character.

He's Japanese. He's out to revenge his master. He practices karate, specifically Shotokan, the most generic Asian fighting style there is. And he wears a Gi! He fits perfectly into every fighting game, including smash.

sure he adds to the dreaded looks like a real person list, but if it just stays at him, c. falcon, and snake it should be fine.

Ryu isn't a pure melee fighter. He's pretty similar to Mario.

Besides, what about a character from Pro Wrestling, or another Punch-Out!! character? Don't they deserve to be in the game?

Oh, I'm not saying Ryu doesn't fit in. You're just against another arm-gun based characters when we have 4 sword man in Melee. Just like Samus, Megaman can do more than use his buster. I'd prefer to see Megaman.

yeah your right too cool master they do need to tone it down on the sword users 4 was quite a lot in melee.

but who knows how many will be in brawl. Since 2 of them in melee were clones I seriously doubt they'll both make it back.

It would be awesome if Ryu was in the game, but that's no reason to exclude megaman. He would be great as well, and is a different style than Samus so it wouldn't be a problem.

Ryu is one of the few 3rd party characters that I would not mind. Being the main character in arguably the most important fighter, he certainly has the "legend" status necessary to be in the game. He might even attract some hardcore Street Fighter fans, and as we all know, the bigger the community the better.

I personally want Ryu from Breath of Fire over SF Ryu, because being able to transform into a dragon would add to the crazyness of sumabura; but then again, Ryu could provide some advantages, but Mario already has his Shotokan- Fireball, Tornado Punch, and Coin Jump seem very similar to Hadoken, Hurricane Kick(sp?), and Shoryuken

IMO Ryu would fit perfectly into SSBB...perhaps too perfectly, and perhaps he'd be too standard of a character. I mean, all his moves are perfectly mapped into SSBM controls (Up-B his uppercut...too perfect!). They just need to make an SF game in the style of SSB. That'd be sick, chi.
