help with my grabbing method

I just found out about the jc grab, well actually all the time I knew about it, but didn't pay attention or practice it. My grabbing methods consist must of shield grabbing or the normal grab after a dash, with just the Z button.
Am I like missing something really important here?? Is it better to do it with z+up or z+x?

Z+X or Z+Y, it pretty much just uses the standing grab while you're moving rather than the dash grab. This way, there's less lag, and if you miss the grab, you're opponent has less time to think of how to punish you.
