Seiken Densetsu Characters?

When I first starting playing video games, all those years ago, my definition of a genre was generally based on the first game of that genre I played.

For platformers, it was Sonic, fighting games, Street Fighter 2, and for RPGs, it was Secret of Mana (known as Seiken Densetsu in Japan I believe).

Now, a lot of people were introduced to RPGs by the Legend of Zelda series, Final Fantasy series or the Seiken Densetsu series, obviously Zelda is in Smash Bros, Final Fantasy has a lot of requests, but what about the final one of the introductory trifecta?

Now, there are actually a fairly wide range of characters to choose from to be used in SSBB, you could go for the protagonist from (arguably) the most popular of the series (at least the most commonly recognised that I know of), but Randi is mainly a sword user, so I say, nuts to that. We don't really need more sword characters, but of course, he could still work.

Instead, I'm suggesting the Children of Mana characters, any will do.

My reasoning?

It's a new game on the DS, so the Nintendo link is still strong (originally the series was on the Famicon/NES then the Super Famicon/SNES before moving onto Sony platforms with the rest of Square's RPGs)

So, we could easily use a magic user from the series, because currently SSBM is lacking in magic using characters, hopefully a trend rectified in SSBB, who could use various magic attacks from the game for its B moveset, and possibly summon an elemental for its "Super Smash" attack.

I certainly would like a magic user in SSBB....The thing is, normally I'd really like to have a Seiken Densetsu character in it, but if that were to somehow happen, it'd obviously be the protagonist, who in all likelihood, will be a sword weilder, and I think the game has enough swordy people as it is (which is why I want a magic user). I've played Secret of Mana (Seiken Densetsu 2, right?) and SD3 (in which you choose your own protagonist out of like, 6-7 different characters), and had a blast with both of 'em.
Anyhow, although an SD character isn't at the top of my list, it'd be really great to see one

edit: Meta Geno Knight, because Seiken Densetsu is a series of 3 games...Secret of Mana is the second one (I think), I really don't have a clue about the first one. (And basically, all the other Squenix titles with the word "mana" in it are also part of the franchise as well, more or less. ie Children of Mana)

Seiken Densetsu 3 is the best in the series. I'd like to see someone from there (especially Hawk or Angela) in Brawl.

Hehe yes I love SD3 and would love to see some chars from it, but its 3rd party and they are part of square enix which has a ton of other chars much further ahead in the line unfortunately. It'd be one h*ll of a longshot at best to get a Seiken Densetsu char I'm afraid. But anyway it'd be cool to have Riesz and maybe give her some attack up/down spells to compliment her spear lol. And Angela would be awesome too, I can see Ancients being her super. Anyways heres hoping for em lol.

Unlikely. While the Seiken Densetsu series was quite popular, we'll be seeing Chrono, Frog, or Magus from Chrono Trigger before we see any Seiken Densetsu characters. I really enjoyed Seiken Densetsu 3, though. I'd like to see Kevin in SSBB, the human/beast switching could be very fun if they did it right (possibly too similar to Zelda/Sheik, but we don't know what's happening with that). Hawkeye and Reisz would also be fun.
