Recently I was brushin up my falco to counter the ice climbers. and then when I was hit off stage by(marth I think?) I use my over b as recovery but. as I did marth was so close to the edge I spike him, really really bad, its just asw effective as falco's Dair spike but its really really hard to pull off, I've only manage to spike one other time since then with the over b but it was in the middle of the stage so(Fox in that fight) just hit the ground and flew up like a normal meteor smash would do.

so, ahs anyone else found this technique out? If so. somone thats better than me with falco should mess wiht it and see if its worth anything for falco.

This technique is really well known and relatively easy to pull off. I've definitely been getting killed by it a lot more often lately.

It's not just as effective as his dair spike. I wouldn't reccomend trying to kill with this tech unless you do it while recovering.

Sorry, I meant in the factor as how fast the fly down after being spiked effective. but so how exactly do you pull this off? I havnt got it down very well yet.

... you hit somebody with it while you execute it in the air and they are also in the air. It's easily meteor cancellable though so it's not better than his dair spike in any way except if you catch someone with crap vertical recover off guard.

great if some dumb fox player is trying to jump out and shinespike you. xp

of course, a smart fox player will shine you from the stage...or just dsmash.

I'd say that it is just as effective but when the opponent is at greater damage, only time it should be done is when recovering though. 4 some reason though I keep nailing it on my friend when he floats out to edgeguard with peach

a great move is to shine someone while they are near the edge, and if they DI off it jc into another shine, which you then jc out of and <b back towards the stage, spikin the person

ofcourse, this is very situationanal, is really only a flash kill (if they dont meteor cancel ofcourse)

I was just about to post about that. I was playing against my bro (who used falco, I use fox) I knocked him off the edge and I tried to shine spike him, when he did the >B to only spike me in return!

against a fox it's like a 50-50 chance that you'll get him. that is, a 50-50 chance that he'll spike you with his shine to your death, or that you hit him, only possibly spiking him but most likely he'll meteor cancel and recover. And that's based on your opponents skill/timing.

Not something to be used aggresivly/offensivly but it's great if it happens while your trying to recover as usual.

I suggest the dair and bair to spike because they are both powerful and keep your enemy off the ledge.

My brother has become extremely dangerous with this move, and it's because he mixes it with other off-edge air attacks. I do my best to avoid a dair or bair but in doing so, I often set myself up for a forward+b spike. Learn all of your off-edge attacks, and you will find that every one of them has use in a different situation. Faking one can often lead to being able to do another.

The other trick he often does is when somebody chases him off the ledge, he DI's away from them, leading to their attack missing (as in the example with fox's shine), then nails you with the forward+b.

Either way, while it isn't falco's best spike, I think it has value beyond the occasional coincidental kill while recovering.

I actually try to use this more often than the dair, just 'cause it's flashier. It also has more horizontal range than dair. A way I use it is to edgehog, fall off the edge, double jump into a wall jump, then Phantasm to sweetspot the edge. It's pretty effective against people with slower up-B's (Falcon, etc.)

I had no idea that you could spike people with Falco's Forward B.
