This only happened recently, and im not sure if it was a fluke.

This normally happens when fighting my friend, who normally uses sheik and mario.

I get him in a grab, and I dont even smack him, I immediatly go for the Dthrow/Shine combo, hes able to stop the spike upwards from the shine, which ruins my combo completely and he wont tell me how he does it.

Ive only recently started practicing Sheild hopping which I find is very easy when im airborne but is sheild hopping possible when im on the ground? I cant remember doing it intentionally so I thought I would ask you guys.

So how does he stop my spike from my shine after the Dthrow, and is a sheild hopping possible when im on the ground?

Thanks guys

Ehm, shorthopping is ONLY able to do off the ground, your jump is always the same length in the air -_- and the stop? Airdodge? DI? More explanation plz : )

You can DI or tech out of the dthrow.

sorry im new to the acronyms, when I said SH (which I knew was shorthopping lol) I mean sheild hopping, and now that I think of it I dont actually know the proper term for it.

Its when you shine, and jump immediately after you shine so you float with the person you just spiked.

sorry for the confusion.

and when I say stop, I mean he somehow prevents the spike upwards. he could tech out but hes not very good, and to tech out of that Dthrow would be pretty hard with our amount of skill. Him using DI to get out is a little more practicle but hes ALWAYS directly beneath me...

Ill have to try it some more and watch what he does, this will be a good reason to try other throw combos :P

He DI's out of it or jumps out of it...

doober, he's probably teching. You say he's not good enough, but it's not that difficult. You just press 'R' when falco throws you down. I suggest after you down throw, just grab him again and down throw again

Actually you can basically just hold R during the throwing animation.

I suggest.. not downthrowing >_> unless you techchase really well.

Well falco's other throws are pretty near useless unless your opponent doens't know how to DI. So I think the dthrow is still your best bet against your sheik and mario friend. But if your shine isn't hitting either they are teching or DI the throw. So instead of using the shine try to dtilt, dsmash, or if you like to try. . . techchase, although falco isn't that great at it.

His fthrow is zok, because it lets you SHL over to your opponent for an attack (or grab again)

i was wondering about the dthrow into a shine too
when i play my brother (he plays the doc), if i shine *right* after i dthrow then hes still stuck in the invincibility recovery frames (if he doesn't tech) , and the shine misses him completely
are you supposed to wait or something ? or am i just bad :p
