I came here a few months back looking for tournies near where I live, but that was during the school year and caused problems. Now that's it's summer, can anyone point some out now? I live in a smallish town sorta in central Texas, Hallettsville. I'm looking for tornaments as close as possible, but with sizable cash prizes, as I'm not paying for transport and I don't wanna be costing my family members money in gas just for a good time.

looks like you wont be going to any tourneys then.

you'll always have to drive to a big city unless you want to have a tourney yourself and hope you can draw in big city people. no one will be catering to your needs unless you can for sure make it.

You are no where near central Texas - but you do live in the middle of San Antonio and Houston, both of which have smash scenes.

Austin is actually closer to Hallettsville than San Antonio or Houston.

tristenkw5 whenever the next state-wide tournament pops up (in San Antonio, Austin, or Houston since you live closest to those 3 cities), you will be guaranteed a 1st place prize of roughly $700. The total pot would be near $1000. Would that be enough?

We could even give you a bonus. Something like the 1st place prize money (~$700) PLUS an additional $200 bonus if you win.

We'll let you know when such a tournament pops up.

Well I didn't mean EXTREMELY close. A turny in any of those cities you mentioned would be good. And as for prize money, I don't want it only to be in the $1000s or anything, just something to get out of bed for.

That's cool, but in any case usually the pot is exactly around $1000, assuming it's a state-wide tournament.
