View Full Version : B-Over is way underused

Unfortuantely, I dont have the video equipment to put my stuff online, but one thing I would show is that B-over is more versatile than anyone seems to give it credit for. first of all, have you ever noticed that after you hit an oponnent with it, depending on how you hit them, they will either be knocked behind you (not so good) or knocked so that they float over your head? When they float over you (which can be done consistently with very little practice) they are just ripe for a shine combo that will make them regret underestimating the b-over. This is good to do when they tech just far enough that you wont be able to grab them after they get up, you determine which way they have teched and quickly b-over so that you hit them the second they are no longer invincible.
Another use for the b-over that is not quite as useful, but still has its uses (not to mention looking awesome) is jumping out from the ledge, towards the opponent you are edgeguarding, and b-over towards the stage, spiking them in the process, adn leaving you safely on the stage. some good set-ups for this are: shorthopped U-airs off the stage and jumping out to your opponent, shining he or she, JCing it so that you are right next to your opponent, then simply b-over.
One last use is for falco vs. fastfallers, many like to do a shffld uair or shine on thier fastfalling enemies, but there are many times were a b-over would set up for a combo better.
I'm not trying to change how everyone plays, but try incorporating these into your next match, if you still dont find any use of it, at least doing them is mildly entertaining, not to mention sexy looking. :burst:

it's too slow and too laggy with not enough pay off to be worth using.

Plus it has no priority whatsoever since the hitbox is behind you you are actually just running at your uooponent with a little ****ty hitbox chasing you.

I use it occasionally against the comp as a spike to set up fun combos, but that's it. There's sooooo much lag after using it and like ryan said the priority is none. It looks like a cool move, and it is cool. It's just sad that cool and good are not the same.

It isn't underused as most players use it to recover but it has too much lag if not canceled...

It sucks unless you have time to sweetspot or you hit them. Upb is much more unpredictable.

A little more detailed clarification on the above posts: When you do the move, there is a short pause before you actually shoot forward, and a quick player can either 1: shield you, then counterattack before you recover or 2: use almost any forward attack move. When forward B collides with the attack, the attack basically always knocks them out of it.

Occasionally it's useful to throw your opponent off or mix things up, but using it frequently against a good player is dangerous.

On the stage/in combos:

a) its slow
b) awful startup lag
c) very predictable trajectory -> very easily hit out of. fox's utilt does this a lot ;_;
d) IF it hits, it's easily second-jumped out of
e) ^ & DId out of
f) suckass priority, right

Offstage:

ALL ABOVE THINGS
and g) it's more predictable than firebird
h) it's faster than firebird (actually phantasm's only advantage!)
i) IT DOESN'T SPIKE IT ****IN' METEORS
j) it's preditable as hell
k) I'd REALLY like to see you jumping out towards a recovering Fox, then you try to phantasm back to the ledge to meteor them and you get SHINESPIKED OUT THE PHANTASM
I'd laugh my royal arse off. really. ;)

The only possible way to use it on the stage is if u dthrow and try to tech chase with it but even that isnt that great and is situational.
