Need help in beginning...

When the match starts and I fall right next to my opponent, I hate it. I don't know how to start. I tried lasering, I tried running away then starting, I tried lasering while running.

I just can't seem to find a good way to begin.

Change your controll slot, if thats not the problem then sheild when the match starts then grab if he attacks otherwise run back and start shooting.
