Alternate Costumes?

Instead of having endless versions of the same character, can't we just have them be alternate costumes?

I kind of dislike the whole (xchar) -> Paper/Celshaded (xchar) because it might interfere with their size of their hitboxes. Alternate Costumes would be awesome as opposed to plain palette swaps, I suppose it is similar to the Pokemon's accessory change.

All I can think of is Mario characters and one other character from SSB

Mario: Fire Mario
Luigi: Fire Luigi, Classic white and green outfit from the original game
Bowser: GIGA BOWSER, Rookie, Bowletta
Peach: Shadow Queen, Mario Tennis/Strikers/Golf outfit
Bowser Jr. (IF IN): Mario scarf, Fangs scarf, Shadow Mario

And that other is Samus: Fusion Suit, Phazon Suit, Light/Dark Suits

The problem is that for the costumes where the shape is changed, they would need to make a new character model. If they are making a new character model, they might as well change the move properties and make it a seperate clone character.

I don't know, I think that it would be too much programming that could be put to better use. Plus some characters would have a bunch of costumes, while others would still look bland. If anything I say change the color combos. Like that pink Luigi. It's why I never play on the red team in melee.

Every time this topic comes up, which is about once a week, I think it's dumber than the week before.

Of course, this is an old topic bumped solely for the purpose of someone posting that Mario should have his Fire Mario costume. No combination of words in the English language could begin to describe the emotions I am feeling right now.
