think of it this way: instead of rolling, wavedash. it's quicker than a roll, and less lag. example: dashing at someone, they throw an attack, you wavedash backwards and <insert attack here>.

I'm no Falco expert but I believe that you can be a good Falco without it. It never hurts for mindgames, wavelanding and edge-hogging though.

trust me, u will learn the godly imporatnce of the wavedash for falco. when fightin fastfallers (since it seems the whole smash community is goin the way of the space animals) the common combo to own them to 80% is the shine > d-air combo. if and when u pull a d-air on a fastfaller say fox/falco/falcon, shine > WD to the way they DI > d-air > shine > WD to the area they DI > d-air, etc. but for each, especially falcon, ull have to tweak the combo so it will work to ur benefit (remember %'s matter a WHOLE lot) , maybe insert an u-air which is great for shffling as well. floaties are different and the WD out of the shine is no good. they cant DI it as well as lets say fox, but instead they go higher so it gives u less time to get to the them vertically then horizontally so the WD is not needed. just JC it and try to follow them. one combo u can try on floaties is shine > d-air > u-tlit > u-air floaties but sometimes that wont work beacause some floaties can reagain "consciousness" before ur u-tilt, say peach at times, etc. and as said above wavedash can be used as a mindgame and wavelanding is almost just as important. but also be able to shoot lasers ground level when fallen from a high distance. it helps against advancing opponents who think u are vunerable because u are in the air. the WD is used as a tool to help u out wit and out play ur opponent not a godlike manuever which will carry u to victory.

p.s. the combos i listed above are standard and good opponents expect u to do them so as said over and over again be unpredictable with whatever means possibles. make ur own combos, im just tryin to give u ideas.
