View Full Version : Wario's Moves, what did he do in other games?

So from the video, we're pretty sure he's going to have some kind of atomic fart attack, probably as a super move. What about the rest of his attacks?

I haven't played any of the wario games... ever... unless using him in Mario 64 DS counts. But knowing how they develope a character's move based on the last 2 games, 95% of his moves will probably come from his past games, which even includes basic jabs and kicks.

So I'm asking any that has played a Wario game, be it Wario Ware or one of his old skewl game boy incarnations, what kind of attacks has he had in the past?

How would those attacks likely translate in to a Smash game?

Is everyone forgetting that Wario had Wario World on gamcube like 3-4 years ago?

U could lnk up warioware on GBA to it.

The game was mediocre, but he had moves like but stomps and punches similar to Mario. bu he also had wrestling grab moves, and sweet *** **** like one move he grabbs you then flies in the sky and does a pile driver, that should definatly be one of his grabs

In one of the GB color games, I think he had a move that was pretty much roll out. I'd hate to see them waste a perfectly good moveslot for that though.

I'm thinking they're going to mix it up, including both Wario's straight power attacks with weird Wario Ware-inspired attacks to give him a balanced moveset.

In the Wario Land games, Wario's signature move was a rushing shoulder tackle. I can see that being his B or side-B attack.
Wario also used several special hats, including a jet and bull hat (that basically improved his shoulder tackle) as well as the famous dragon cap (think Bowser's B attack).
Later games had Wario go Kirby and absorb the abilities fo enemies after getting attacked by them. This allowed him to become a vampire bat, a zombie, a snowball, lit on fire, etc. I don't see these getting implemented in Brawl.
The last action-oriented Wario game, Wario World for the Gamecube, gave Wario a wicked piledriver and a spinning throw.

After Wario World, Wario's appearances outside Mario games were almost exclusively in the excellent Wario Ware series, where Wario did very little, but there were lots of bizarre 'micro-games'. It seems that some of Wario's attacks will follow suit and be sort of random and weird, so it's pretty hard to determine what they could be.

Piledriver, Wild Swing Ding, Shoulder Takle, and Mega Toss where cool moves in Wario World. He also had ground pound which is the most basic mario series attack and super suction which he used to absorb coins (wonder if they will use that).

They have to have Wario's shoulder tackle and Butt slam. But I think Wario should be given the fireball for two reasons:

1. Mario and Luigi have it. I believe every Mario brother should be capable with the fireball.

2. It was Wario's first special move. You'll remember he used as the final boss in Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins.

In Wario Land, Wario could do a Shoulder Charge when he was "Super Wario," and then could upgrade that with three different hats: The Eagle hat let him fly with it, and pretty much charge forwards for ever; the Dragon hat let him exchange it for a flamethrower; and the Bull hat made it twice as strong and gave him a Butt Stomp attack (he could also stick the horns into ceilings and hang :p)

Wario Land 2 had this cool system where the environment changes you, instead of doing the old "Mario Bros - grab a mushroom and go" system. So instead of getting hurt, you just lose coins when you get hit. But, anyways, Wario would transform into different things. Getting flattened made him Flat Wario, who would float when he fell and cross wide gaps by waddling over them. Fat Wario had a stronger butt stomp, and could crush floors. Puff Wario would float up until he popped; he'd have an allergic reaction to bee stings to get this  Fiery Wario was just him on fire running around :p But it was cool. And there were a lot more, like Crazy Wario and Zombie Wario. He had the butt stomp and charge the whole time, and could toss enemies at super speed and roll around off hills.

Wario Land 3 was more the same, added new transformations. He got a Vampire form in this one, and could turn into a bat and fly. Very cool.

Wario Land 4 brought in a Zelda-style heart meter, but again, more of the same.

There was also Virtual Wario Land, released before Wario Land 2, that played just like the first one, with a "King Dragon Hat" that had all the powers or some crap. I don't remember.

Wario World let him do wrestling moves instead of hats or different forms. That was fun.

He also popped up in Wario Blast: Featuring Bomberman, but played just like Bomberman in that one, dropping bombs :p

And that's basically all the times you play as Wario pre-Wario Ware XD

He didn't do anything special in the Mario spinoff titles like Kart 64 or Tennis, other than his special strikes. He had the element of Lightning in Mario Golf and Tennis on the N64, though. Odd.

Mario and Wario and Wario's Woods have him as the badguy. He just drops hammers and the bucket in MW, and apple bombs in Wario's Woods.

There. Some more old-school Warioness for ya :p

That's some good stuff, FlipTroopa, thanks man :)

I would be absolutely shocked if he didn't have at least some representation of his hats and transformations. And like people said, his wrestling moves from Warior World are almost garunteed to make up his throws (considering kirby's throws in Melee are ninja and suplex hat from super star).

Maybe the game would still be fun if they gave every character brand spanking new move sets, but even if a character ends up so-so... seeing those naustalgic moments really bring something extra to the game. Makes me want to play the Wario games just to see what they do with him in Brawl. :D

I'm thinking this one's pretty much a given.

As an aside, are you the same IcyMatt who had a comment printed in EGM recently?

He has his shoulder barge and that's all I remember I havn't played Wario Land since I was little and I never got around to playing the wario ware games but I'll get smooth moves to make up for it :)

I know he limbo'd in one of the WarioWare games, Wild-Swing-Ding form Wario World would be a good throw.

I wonder if one of his throws could be his charge toss from Wario World. The longer you hold the control stick in that direction the more it charges. Only drawback is that the character being held has more time to escape your grasp. What do you guys think?

How about lightning instead of fire, he's aways had that has his, "Nice shot" effect in the mario golf games, it could be just like luigi's fireball, but it's made of lightning instead

I remember in WarioWorld for Gamecube, all he could really do was that shoulder-dash, jump on his enemies, and punch. So in Brawl, chances are his moves are gonna be good old-fashioned punches and kicks.
