Ok, I'm having trouble comboing with falco. I can do all of his advanced techniques, I'm just having trouble linking a couple of them together during gameplay. Would anyone mind sharing the exact movement of your fingers during pillaring/wavedashing after pillaring?

For example, I shffl dair then shine but they block. The next step would be wavedashing to the other side of them and shining again before they can shieldgrab. Now the problem enlies with my finger movements/strategy. I used to never let go of the joystick, and I would just switch it from the south to southeast or west posistion after the shine in order to wavedash. That didn't seem to be working for me. Sometimes I just stood there and sometimes I just phantasm'ed so I decided to switch up my strategy. I tried letting go of the joystick after the shine to just do the wavedash in one motion which works better but not perfectly. I'm not sure if its my finger strategies or I'm just rushing too much during gameplay. Anyway, I'll try to explain my current strategy a bit better in steps:

1. Dair using c-stick then ff and cancel with down and L
2. Keep holding the joystick down and hit B to shine
3. After the shine quickly release the stick to the neutral position.
4. Wavedash

I know all of this sounds really dumb but its the only reason I can't play falco at a high level yet. If you have any suggestions please let me know.

I believe its jsut perference. Some people need to reset the joystick to neutral position for all of there wavedashing/waveshining. Whereas other keep the joystick at an angle and just move it slightly for the specific motion.

Again, just practice.

That's what I do.

like mathos said its all preference. FF does what u do. i reset the joystick after everything, (unless it requires quick timing like the 2x JCed shines). practice will make u more fluid

Hmmm, I find it easier to get a better angled wavedash if I reset the joystick to neutral. Either that or my controller has to be really worn in to go straight from down to over.

Thnx for the replies, its good to know that reseting the stick seems to be the most popular strategy. I think most of my problems come from trying to rush too much. I figure if I don't do it as fast as possible im going to get shieldgrabed. I probably need to make a conscious effort to try to slow it down a bit. And yes, I do practice a lot.

make sure you take into account the shieldstun that results from the shine.

i dont "reset" my control stick. doesn't really matter, im just used to it.

if sometimes you're just standing there and sometimes you're phantasming it would seem like the problem lies not in your left hand and the control stick, but your right hand...dunno, figure it out.
