(not 3 or 4 stock do) i need help....

Is this marth you speak of possibly Ken? then again Ken and azen are about equal if Azen not a greater marth player than Ken.

THE PAIN

the marth he speaks of is true and is not ken but another player. i will not say his name because he want to stay underground for a while. But you will soon see his name.

JBM falcon08
07-03-2006, 01:30 PM
Well, as long as you keep him underground as far as i know he's a noobie who the two of you believe he is as good Ken or Azen, which is due to the fact you both probably have never experienced playing other people. Not saying you are but this is all that i can base off what you have said.

Well, if you're falco, and he's supposedly a marth better than AZEN, you're ****ed. No way around it.

I will agree that he can be tough. My friend plays a pretty good Marth and beat me a bunch of times. First try to pick out a pattern. My friend plays against CPU 9s so he had a slightly obvious pattern to find. if you KNOW hes going to dash+A, insdead of shielding, foxtrot in the other direction. I tried wavedashing, but it didnt work too well becuase falco dosnt wavedash as far, and if you shield he will probably end up behined you. If this happens, smash him. If you foxtrot away, I like to SHL in his direction, then smash or Dthrow+pillar shine. If he's in the air, watch out. Marth has *****in air attacks. Try to use your fast jump to your advantage by waiting until hes closer to the groud to Dair him.

Ofcourse, if hes REALLY good, youre goana have to play your best game, get KOs off as soon as you can, and get alittle lucky. I'm not saying you do this, but I sometimes do: DONT SD!

It doesn't matter about what he looks like in videos, videos say nothing, the only way you could even slightly make me believe if he is as good as azen or ken is if he beat them like once, but thats almost impossible, seeing that pretty much they go back and forth on wins against each other, they are the best marths out there other than Ek, Neo, and Husband.

u cant judge skill on vids

anyways, falco vs marth goes to falcos favor. he combos falco to hell and marth can only CG him on FD. still can be a hard match up on stages like yoshi story and fountain of dreams, but almost always in falco's favor.

well you havnt told us specific problems with what you are encountering with this marth

i have a strange feeling that telling you to fastfall your lasers, space your aerials, learn proper edgeguarding technique, and learning to DI out of combos, would earn you a few stock.

well you should tell husband to enter the tournament being held in south florida by xorcist records. you can see more about the tournament in tournament dicussions. ihave nothing against husband either because he is very skilled. but if you see them go head to head maybe than we will truly know who is better.and nice to meet you foxandfalco.

I was just on the Marth board, and it's conclusive. SHL ruins marth's game. Don't let him get proper spacing. Either be really close, or really far. And don't get grabbed.

Im not to experienced in fighting Marth's with my Falco but fighting against Falco's with Marth I can tell you what really annoys me! Like the guy above me said SHL is just plain annoying. Just spamming that from a distance forces the Marth to go on the offensive so you already have the advantage of forcing him to do what you want. Falco has some great combo's on Marth and he's hard to approach properly with Nair SHFFL and Dair SHFFL. Also Marth recovery can be easily stopped so once he's off the edge killing him doesn't seem to be that difficult. If he's comming from below Dair near the edge will get the marth most of the time unless he sweetspots the edge or off the ledge Bair's or CC'd DownSmash if the Marth again doesn't sweet spot the ledge. Dang just my 2centz someone feel free to correct me!

It doesn't matter what he looks like in vids, so what if he has good tech skill, everyone has that now a days, or people that attend tournies. another important thing that we can't see is his mindgames, are they good/bad? does he even have any? you can't see mindgames most of the time when watching a video.

yea, vids dont prove overall skill and all. but, i just want to know if this guy actually knows how to play marth. i mean, these players, trixter, hanz, and pain just joined smashboards and i never heard of them. i just want an idea if they can actually play this game at a somewhat competitave level.

If your curious about falco vs marth match ups, and the marth is basically as good as Ken, watch either Soldier of Fortune or just some matches of Ken vs Bombsoldier. His falco does a pretty good job of working a marth

THE PAIN

No i have never faced Queen DVS. Its true i have joined smashboards recently but i have been visiting this site for a long time. And the only real reason i joined this site was to register for the tournament. Also i cant rate myself of how good i am but i think i can give people a good fight. Thats why i am going to the tournament to see how really good i am. I am exicited because g-regulate will be there. and i have respect for foxandfalco because of his nice vids and his good information. I think i can play smash at a competitive level.

I agree with u foxandfalco that vids doesnt prove anything but you have to watch the combos.

I just noticed, we havent really given this guy any advice, one of my favorite things to do now is ( I dont know if it has a name, I just call it "blaster mindgame") you've probaly seen pros do it. I like to start it off ona dash dancce, but basically, you SHL to where your in or almost in range of his sword, then jump away and reverse shl. see what he does next, if he tries to advance on you, do another reverse shl, , shl, reverse shl. If he stay stationary, trying to time you to get an f-smash in, change your timing a little or continue doing the shl, reverse shl. My friend eventually gets frustrated and tries to time an F-smash, your friend may be more patient, but ti begins to wear on everyone. When you think the time is right, jump into his range like your going to shl, but dair, now you'e got him where you want him, own him. In the air against falco, Marth is a gonner, even with his high priority. If you're as good as you say you are, dont let up, and he'll be done soon enough. Always keep in mind you're spacing. Disreard this if he can power shiled consistently :p

P.S. if you dont know what I am talking about, look at what dashizwiz does against ganondorf in FoxandFalcos' "Best of Falco" video

BAM! Shameless self-advertising, but this really is a good way to play him. Distancing and quick combos. Prediction helps one hell of a lot, stay away from those grabs. Whatever you do, don't become predictable! The more predictable you are, the easier you are to grab or tipper.

I hear it's good to fight Marths in places other than FD, which is in a sense true because in places such as Yoshi Story and Dream Land you can follow his DI with Shine combos. In other words, once a shine is landed on Marth on a platform level, 60 damage should be expected by taking advantage of the platforms. On FD, however, it can be a bit trickier. I usually spam lasers, even when the Marth can powershield until I get a shine in. Full jump after the shine for shine combo's there after percentages in the 40' - 60's. Just make sure to watch out for Marth's chain-throw, and if you happen to get chain-thrown, expect to DI the F-smash tip which will be sending your @$$ out of the stage......

ways to beat a deadly marth
1) be better than him
2) don't get chaingrabbed,(this is my opinion, which many falcos i've faced do) don't DI so that when your around 25% to 31%, its much harder to grab you because the marth will be required to do a very quick dash dance in order to grab you again, because your on top of him rather than left or right.
3) be cautious and have a strategy about your approach.l
4) pillar his a$$ to death
5) be able to edge tech when he hits you with a tipper.
6) have mindgames that will trick the **** out of him and dair him off the stage whenever possible.

someone please add to this if i'm missing something or correct me.

5) be able to edge tech when he hits you with a tipper.

YES YES, many people overlook edge teching (or is it called ledge teching?). Either way, make sure you take the time to learn it since it isn't very hard to do. It's a BIG life savor for Falco.

He actually has a good Marth, not his best character, but it's good. He probably looked worse due to the bad match up. Also he can have a deceptive playstyle because he plays slowly and methodically with Marth. He came second at the tourny that match was filmed at.

as everyone has said, videos mean nothin!!! u have no idea what mindgames are goin on and what each other is thinking of the other. i am willin to bet this marth is so far away from ken and azens play. azen sandbagged the hell out of me (and never played a character higher on the tier than falco) and still beat me at SAVII (but then again thats AZEN :chuckle:). pillar ur opponent, it always puts pressure on someone (if u need an oppurtunity wait till he does a move that u hopefully shielded or dodged and waveshine into him and start it up). falco owns marth when ur are on the platform (with exceptions to FD) so take advantage of it. hes only prolly beatin u off the ledge
