I went to my first tournament today and I lost to a crazy shiek player. I got to the semi finals and people were saying I was related to bombsoldier and all that because I did crazy combos on him. I should have won but they said I made too many "mistakes". Such as not SHLing enough and not doing the right moves and being consistent with my movements.

Basically I need help with 2 things. First how am I supposed to hit shiek with my lazer since she is too close to the ground while running and crouching. I could combo him but he would run up to me and just spam shieks neutral A move and hit me up and kill me with an Fair. I dont know how to handle that. He chose yoshis Island which I think is a bad stage against shiek. Whenever I would try to come back with a phantasm he would use a downsmash to edgeguard. How do I handle shiek players? Im not very experienced with them.

The second problem is I faced the best guy there who used fox. I am known as a fox killer but I just couldnt seem to start up pillars on him. He would just shine spike me or upsmash me at a high percentage which is how fox is supposed to be played. It was on Pokemon stadium which I cant play well at since I cant start pillars effectively without the stage getting in the way. I figure he was just better than me overall but I have no way other than reading about how to play against that kind of fox since I have no one good to practice with anyways. Fast. Shine Spiking. And smart with all his moves. Something new to me.

It was my first tournament and I was really nervous about proving myself. I could not move as fast as I usually did and I could not think clearly since everything was going faster than I am used to. I am not experienced in any of those areas so I just wanted some tips on how to handle that. Also I have terrible mindgames. I just dont know how to make my opponent do what I want. What tricks should I use for that?

Thanks for the help in advance. I shall try to get videos up soon.

well with shiek your awnser is simple - youre not fastfalling your lasers.

with fox its a different matter - yes pokemon stadium is NOT good for you - you definately want to play on FD - where he needs a rediculously high percentage to kill you , and your lasers are made much stronger.

Even If I had FFd my lasers he wou;d still be able to combo me without knowing how to escape. With the fox I want to know how to play him on a stage other than FD please.

It sounds like the tourney scene just threw you off your game.
I wouldn't know, i've never been to one.

Yeah, for the sheik, you need to fast fall your lasers. They can get pretty low, low enough to hit a crouching Jigglypuff..try practicing that.
Try learning to edge tech and sweet spot the ledge..I cannot edgetech myself but you basically need to press R/L within a twenty frame window, which sense we can't react that fast, pressing the button as were nearing them might work, i think.

I can't really help with fox..sorry..

btw, loved the sig.

nervous?, that´s a good reason why you lost, the other day I got nervous too when I played against new dudes and they beaten me...after I got my *** whooped, the next sunday I played again against them and everytime I got nervous I lost, so while playing lots of matches with them that day, I stoped getting nervous and started to win.

so you shouldn´t be nervous whenever you go to a tournament, keep it calm and everything will be o.k, I don´t guarantee you that you´ll win but keep going to tournaments and you´ll learn a lot more with time.

ok, to ledgetech, just hold l as you are using your phantasm or up+b - dont worry you wont airdodge <because you cant>

thats easy enough

trust me, you can fastfall your lasers to hug the ground - this will be the best counter.

to counter a nair spam - simple - SHIELDGRAB. nair has its hitbox primarily in front, and she cant really DI it behind you, so you dont need to worry aobut that.
if she DOES land behind you, then jump out of your shield and bair, or do a JC downsmash.

when she is edgeguarding, you should aim for the edge - or sweetspot with your phantasm. if you dont you will surely get hit out of it.
also, mix up your recovery when using up+B and phantasm,, to make it harder to predict.

since when was sheik's nair spammable? her jump doesnt allow her to do that. although, she can SH FF here n-air to out space her oppenent despite how "slow paced" it would be. still, full jump triple laser and SHL+ pillar appoarch should help you. if she lands behind you (if that's eve possible, she has horrible horizontal aerial movement), then it's a free shine combo. by the way, u cant JC downsmash out of a shield; stop trying to sound smart BrTarolg.

i dont think Inf. GXT is new to the game, but whatever.
