View Full Version : Pokemon, anyone? (AZ Smash Scene)

Pokemon Red and Blue versions were my first true experiences with multiplayer gaming. Not only could anyone play the game anywhere with the Gameboy, it had an enormous following. A few weeks ago, my Red version decided to crap out on me right in time for a bet with a friend. It was hard to see all my 151 Pokemon erased (Mew through a glitch in the game). So I went out a bought a used copy, but still haven't played my friend yet. Does anyone in the AZ Smash scene still have their old cartridges and be willing to play? I have heard Taj among others had caught them all. I would even go as far as some MM's. I am only talking about Red, Blue, or Yellow versions for I lost interest in Pokemon as the newer games came out...but the originals still hold a place for me.

Use NetBattle.
Yeah, I enjoy Pokemon competitively. Taj used to play RBY, but has discontinued such. Netbattle is a great way to play pokemon competitively, and is very easy to use; for the most elite, though, RSBot (or RBYBot) is the way to go. I myself am not nearly good enough, sheerly because I don't play frequently, and have coincidentally just begun playing again. But I ramble.

Interesting. I have heard of the NetBattle before but never really tried it. Do you play NetBattle Shiv? Well anyway, the offer still stands if anyone ever wanted to break out the old Gameboys and play.

Taj is the pokemon master
Nah, my brother is the pokemon master, he's pretty hardcore with it, lately though he's been pretty casual about it, but he has almost all of the pokemon in the series from the new games. Which requires play in the remakes, sapphire, ruby, and the new Colleseum. All he needs is:
Remaining Pokemon - Kanto (8) Gamepaks required: FireRed / LeafGreen / XD
Poliwrath
Slowpoke
Slowbro
Magmar
Kabuto
Kabutops
Dragonite
Mew*
Remaining Pokemon - Johto/Orre/Sevii Isles (3) Colosseum / FireRed / LeafGreen / XD
Slowking
Magby
Celebi*
Remaining Pokemon - Hoenn (3) Ruby / Sapphire / Emerald
Latios
Groudon
Deoxys*
He caught them all in RBY, and came close to all if not all in Gold and Silver. Not to mention that he thinks up some of the craziest breeding combos to get certain pokemon certain abilites. He also makes his own pokemon card game expansions and made up abilities that the real card developers actually ended up using, he thinks freakishly like them.
He even made Gym battles for the GC game, we had people over to play him and he made badges out of clay, lol, he loved it, we loved it, and now he's in france, *tear*.

I still enjoy playing the red version of the original pokemon game. I think the 350+ pokemon games are freakin rediculous.
I would totally love to start a fresh file in a Fire Red pokemon game for GBA if someone else would do the same....we could battle and stuff..
I feel like I'm 12 again...o well

Hmm I just bought a used silver version thinking I might go through that to see all the new pokemon and whatnot. I would do the FireRed thing but I think I would be horribly lost.

Fire Red is honestly just a revamped, balanced out Red version from the original Blue and Red for Game Boy. It throws no new pokemon at you, just the original 151. Psychics arn't uber powerful in it anymore, and each pokemon has a new move set. It's pretty sweet.

Fire Red and Leaf Green actually still include the Gold/Silver pokemon, just not the ruby/sapphire.

Pokemon yellow didn't do it for me...having pikachu around all the time was just annoying. Not to mention you couldn't do the infinite item glitch 0.o
