Side-B Staller

i havent seen anyone do this in a match before. you can gain invincibility frames from doing fox and falcos side-b on the edge. the trick is to move the control stick left to fall. if you phantasm now, you die. right after moving the control stick left, curve it upwards to make a quck jump, then quickly all the way to the right. as you press right, you should press b to phantasm. it takes practice, but it can become stable. i dont know if this is more effective than up-b stall though.

AAAAHHHHH, I was just about to post the sam thing! well, you beat me to it. I dont think it sowrth it with fox because his illusion just pops people up, but with falco, not only do you get a ledgestall, but and added spiking effect. I tested in 1/4 speed in trainging mode and I'm fairly certain the invincibility frames last the eniter time, so its an even better version of fire stall. can someone with ar check this?

the reason for doing so is the short time of being invincible, right?
so why not just press down and jump, so you always get back to the edge. wheres the difference?

the point of the stall is that there is NO time where u are not invincle, if you simply drop from the ledge then jump, you do no reach the ledge quick enogh and there is time where u are not invincible, thus defeating the purpose. An dif it is well known and better than the fire stall, why is it never used?

i thought up+b ledgestall isn't invincible the whole time.

there's also the infinite lube stall, which is up+b ledgestall with shines included.

the phantasm stall can actually be pulled off without the double jump. it's just insanely hard and impractical.

i'm not sure if the phantasm one is completely invincible with the double jump. although i guess the double jump doesn't really add that much time.
maybe if you cancel the phantasm?

up+b is probably easier tho

I've mastered this ledgestall and here is the easiest/Less hard way to do it:

1.Hang on edge
2.With your right thumb, use the middle part (the flexing part) to tap the C-stick away from the edge. (Falco will drop)
3.IMMEDIATLY with the tip of your right thumb tap the B-button while DI'ing to the stage.(you'll effectively phantasm a lil' below the edge and hang again.)
4.repeat.

WARNINGS:

1.If you do it fast enough you won't suicide.
2.It's easier to do w/Fox.
3.If you haven't mastered it don't use it in a real fight.
4.It took me alot of time to master it.
5.Practice it on a safe edge like in Temple or Onett.
6.It won't work in thin edges like Pokemon stadium or Battlefield.
7.The shinestall and firestall are much simpler to do.
8.While you do this stall constantly the hitbox can meteor spike the enemy if he's close, or he could edgehog so watch out.
9.I posted this on "TRAINING Tips 4 your Fox" on his forum.
10.Yes I can do it and I don't have a sample vid, you'll have to trust me on this one.

I do it while they are dying up the stage.

And I don't spam it, I do it intelligently as a mindgame (like any other stall), you guys know better, stop the nonsense.

Try it first in slomo melee and then you'll get use to it and do it in normal speed, you'll get the hang of it.

In 1p mode it's harder.

Dudes, it's true. Zyko can ledge stall with the Phantasm. I've fought Zyko a lot of times and he can actually do it fluently. He have spiked me in the edge with that $hit! I can do it twice in a row, but I suicide because I do it the hard way. I tap the control stick away the edge, phantasm, but twice in a row, attempting for the third one, I SD. I'll try Zyko's way.

What I'm trying to say is that the skill is truly "mastereable". I'll contact a friend of mine who have a capture card so we can tape it. That is, if you don't believe us.

this is an amazing discovery, but the phantasm is not a spike, it can be meteor cancelled, so its not as useful as people believe it to be.

You are right, other stalls are simpler and keep you invinceble while doing them.

But it's very unexpectable, original and FLASHY!
I have also meteor spiked Ganon's and C.Falcon's up+B with this edge stall.

This tactic is pretty much pointless, It's not original or flashy. I can do it fluently too with fox or falco w/out jumping but I'm not bragging.

Of course it's masterable, It's not very hard. Who wouldn't believe that you can do something easy and pointless? I don't believe that anyone cares.

^ thats somewhat true, but if you are referring to your friends you play,they would be expecting it or people you normally wouldn't play (tournament play), then it is useful, but as long as it stays as a mindgame and unpredictable.

@Sveet-Believe it or not, I don't use it much to meteor spike, mostly like a mindgame, 'cause to meteor spike in ledge it's very situational. And even if they Meteor cancel, Falco'll be ready to spam it.;) It takes about a second to Falco be prepared for another staller, and CF/GD's Up+B start up's laggy.

can we please get back on topic to discuss this b> stall's greatness. zyko i'd like to hear more and why you use this, i haven't decided if its useful at this point, seems more like a random thing to do rather than just use the firebird edge stall.

It's much easier the firebird, but if you miss the invincibility frames, you'll be exposed.(at least with the side+B you'll be under the edge and with a hit box.)

Yes, it's very situational and it's much easier to fb so decide it yourself.
(I personally prefer the side+B but that's just me.)
