Oklahoma Hosts Smash - Need A Pummeling?

I'm here on behalf on RastaImposta (who is hosting the tournament) to announce Oklahoma's Second Smash Tournament (name pending), assuming he doesn't mind me making the thread since he isn't online right now and it needed to be done <_< We're inviting people from all states to participate, and hope you can make it to create a good turnout.

Stage select has been changed to match MLG.

Ok, since the room was already reserved for the 22nd, we have gone ahead and reserved it for the 29th. We apologize to anyone that this may inconvenience.

When: July 29th at 11:00 AM.
Where: Oklahoma Memorial Union
900 Asp Avenue Suite 428
Norman, Oklahoma
First floor, Sooner Room

Try to be there at least 10 minutes before the tournament starts so we can set everything up.


Singles: $10
Doubles: $20 per team

Crew and low tier tournaments may be held, I will get an official word from Rasta about this ASAP.

Information on prizes has yet to be officially confirmed, but I believe that earlier Rasta stated:

1st - 60%
2nd - 30%
3rd - 10%

1st - 60%

Rules

4 stock

8 minute time limit

2/3 sets, 3/5 for semi-finals and finals.

No items

In the event of a tie: sudden death is played out, then the winner of that chooses the stage for the final extra 1 stock 2 minute match

First stage random or agreed upon

Dave's Stupid Rule: no stage you previously won on can be repicked unless it's allowed by the other player(s)

Double blind character picks if necessary for first match (i.e. upon request)

Stage striking: each player can strike one stage from the random stage select only. Not for the entire set.

Advanced slob picks: loser picks stage, then winner picks character, then loser picks character

Controller Mods, Glitches (IC Freeze Glitch, Mewtwo Soul Stunner, etc), and tactics used to stall a match (wall-bombing, rising pound), are banned. You know what we mean when we say this so don't try and pull any ****.

Bomb Custom Rule (BCR): If something is mutually agreed upon, you may play it (outside of changing the best 2/3, items, and 4 stock). In other words, if you hate DSR, Stage Knockouts, Counter Picking (just wanna go Double Blind?), etc, declare before hand and you don't have to use it. Also, if you do agree to it, and you lose, you're screwed, don't come crying to us.

1 v 1 Random Stages: Final Destination, Fountain of Dreams, Dreamland 64, Pokemon Stadium, Yoshi's Story, Battlefield

2 v 2 Random Stages: Final Destination, Dreamland 64, Pokemon Stadium, Yoshi's Story, Kongo Jungle 64, Battlefield, Rainbow Cruise, Brinstar

Stages Banned for 1v1 only: Great Bay and Mushroom Kingdom 2

Stages Banned for 2v2 only: Fountain of Dreams and Mute City

Stages Banned for 1v1 and 2v2: Yoshi's Island (Pipes), Fourside, Hyrule Temple, Flatzone, Brinstar Depths, Icicle Mountain, Big Blue, Mushroom Kingdom 1, Venom, Yoshi's Island 64, Peach's Castle, and Kongo Jungle

This thread will be updated as Rasta confirms more details, any of which I will get out of him once it hits daytime :p

Kansas is expected to be coming, and Nebraska is a hopeful. Dallas/Fort Worth is now expected to come as well.

For any out-of-staters that need overnight housing, post and we can probably arrange something. If nothing else, some of us would probably be able to chip in for a hotel.

Yo, Rasta here, we are having a tourny, we will have another one (more than likely) in August, but no date has been confirmed.

Those are the expected prizes, singles should stay the same, but I would not be surprised if the doubles were lower.

Id like as many people to come to this as possible, but if you cant, then dont stress out.
