I have seen a lot of people complain about Samus being the only character from the Metroid series (Zero Suit Samus is still Samus). They have suggested that Ridley should be a playable character, but i disagree. He is too big and I just think that he just doesn't fit in the game. There are other characters from metroid that fits better and I think that a Space Pirate is one of them.

There are a lot of different variations of Space Pirates and they have a lot of moves to choose from. I think that a combination of these forms would make a good character. Since Weavel (from Metroid Prime: Hunters) is the only Space Pirate known by name, I suggest that he should represent them. Weavel is a former Space Pirate soldier who was severely wounded by Samus Aran, leaving only his central nervous system functioning. Thus he looks like this:

I really don't like his look so I think he should be the pre-wounded form of Weavel, which is just a standard Space Pirate, and look like this (a Space Pirate from Metroid Prime 2: Echoes):

I have thought of some moves for and they could be something like this:

B: Galvanic Accelerator Cannon or Quantum Assault Cannons- The Space Pirate fires a beam with almost the same speed as Samus’ missiles. The stun is a little better than the stun of Mario’s fireball. The attack looks like the beam that Space Pirates shoot in the Metroid series.

B+up: Jet Pack Boost (used by Pirate Aerotroopers)- The Space Pirate will fly up by using his jet pack. The player will have control over the path (somewhat like they have control over Ness' PK-thunder). This move will start out slow and then increase speed. You can hit other players with this move to cause damage, but you will be hurt too. The length of this move is a little bit longer than Fox's up+b.

B+down: Cloaking (used by Shadow Pirates)- This move is a kind of gamble. Once it is turned on, each attack on you will miss 50% of the time, but since this move uses a great amount of energy you will get hit harder too. Damage taken increases by 50% and knockback increases by 20%.

B+forward: Leap Attack- The Space Pirate leaps forward and attacks with his scythe. This looks like when the Space Pirates jumps forward as shown at 02:48 in this video (http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=9213793401706774854&q=Metroid), but he will attack with his scythe instead of shooting. This attack is very quick, but has little knockback.

The Space Pirate’s A-attacks would consist of punches, slashes with the scythe, kicks and other appropriate moves.

Feel free to make your own movesets and to discuss.

Ridley = Bowser + M2 + Kirby. I don't see a problem there.

Nore do I see a problem with Weavel's MP:H form. (well, besides Halfturret)

space pirates should just be an enemy like the gooma or octoroks. ridley should be the first metroid character in after samus. and if you have problem with size, look at bowser and kirby, like kaid said. kirby is only 8 inches high and bowser has been as big as a skyscraper. they can rework size.

The space pirates sound like too basic enemy to make into a playable character on Smash. I think they'd be like the Octoroks or the Goombas. I do however, like the looks of the original. But yeah, they could change size for playability.
