anyways, a real question to any SBR members:
is there any tier discussion still going on in the SBR? meaning, are any changes going to be made to the tier list any time soon? i wouldn't think too much on it because it really gives a generally accurate idea of how the characters stand. if any real changes were to be made, i'm sure they would be small and perhaps insignificant.

because honestly, i don't believe there is anything too revolutionary that would allow tiers to be changed so drastically. there has been nothing of the sort since ken and chu and other notable players. arguments about characters' individual statistical qualities doesn't really prove squat for me unless they are shown excelling in tournament play.

to del money's recent custom tier list: do you happen to play yoshi and gw? it certainly shows lol. luigi's spot is ridiculously low and proves you don't know enough about every character to make a noteworthy tier list. especially on your own. the tier list is a compilation of MANY, MANY opinions from SBR members.

Luigi IS definitely unusually low on that tier list... many people have argued about Link and Luigi being too low on the tier list given their performance in low tier tourneys.

these adjustment were made because of someone else suggested yoshi was good and i agreed. everyone ive asked before coming to this thread says luigi is low tier and i never believed it at first but i have no luigi experience outside cpu level 9. if the tier is finalized by all expert opinions merged into one huge compromise (like i thought would happen on this thread) then it would solve the stupid crap i hear from people at college that fox is broken and young link is the games worst character. my reaction was uncalled for but christ, if you see something you dont like just change it instead of flaming me

I dont understand how come DK is low tier. He has good aerials, good grab combos, good recovery, fairly quick and has good range. Why is he so low on the tier list? Is it because a lot of people dont play DK ?

I'm not so good at using DK, but from my experience playing against him he's an extremely large target who's very easy to combo, and he has horrible vertical recovery. Also, his shield is as bad as G&W's but unlike G&W, DK doesn't have much to make up for his lack of shield. He only does decent vs fast fallers, and all he really has there is grab rape combos.

He also doesn't have many great moves that I know of.

Also - what about Samus's placement ? I think she should be higher as well. She has great crouch cancelling, awesome recovery, projectile spam, and a great wavedash. Shouldn't she be moved up a little higher on the list ? Her only real weakness (that I can think of) is that she is killed of the top quickly.

The thing about the list is that it's not entirely based on a characters specific abilities. Samus' meta-game is just not very good. Samus could potentially go above peach/falcon/ICs, she just isn't played well enough, but maybe she can't be played well enough, which would explain her position.

ppl need to remember that a character has great x,y,z, but the characters above them in the list also have things about them that are great too. i've seen many ppl ask "why is x not higher? x has good ___, ____ ,___ and ____. move them up" w/o acknowledging at all waht the characters above have to offer thats better than x
