Why are people suddenly putting Yoshi and G&W so high?
None of their matchups have changed and they have not won any tournaments that i now of...
I think G&W is in the bottom 5 cause he has such bad defense....
Someone explain!
hmm... Yoshi and G&W aren't high, they're listed as 4-8th worst
DireVulcan rapes NY with G&W... Mr Stick gives those fastfallers a run for their money.
And G&W doesn't have a really bad defense... what he has is a bad shield.
Offense is more important than defense...

on mood4foods list they are put as 7th and 8th from the bottom....
way to high imo
He has a bad defense cause he has a horrid shield, bad roll and dodge.
Dont forget he is VERY light, so so recovery, 3 of his aerials cannot be l-canceled, and i think he gets combed pretty easy...
Yoshi imo is NOT in the bottom 5, and might be where mood4food put him...

Because Samus has an amazing roll...
G&W's game is built to destroy fast-fallers, but he does have trouble otherwise.

Man, you put way too much emphasis on rankings inside tiers...
There is a reason why we use tiers instead of simple rankings, because characters inside the same tier are roughly equal.
The reason why Mood's list is the best I've seen so far is that it focuses itself more on tier based separation. This leaves less room for error...
In G&W's case, you say that he should be 5th worst, while Mood has him in the 5-8th worst tier. If G&W is equal to Zelda, does it really matter if he's 5th worst or 8th worst???
The main thing that should be debated on this list IMO is Falco's placement (top or high tier?)

Ganondof should NOT be in the middle tier. He's one of the high tiers.

um if the dorf is not better than marth, fox, sheik, falco, peach, falcon, ICs, or samus, then hes not in any of the 2 highest tiers

Falco should remain on tier 2, cause he just can't solo a tourney anymore just like mood said. Only guy that does that now with success is ShizWiz??? (does he use a Fox backup?)
Ganon is made for tier 3, like Samus he's a good char that has a lot of things going on for him but has to work harder against top/hier tiers. Guys like Hugs/Tipman are just mutants, plain and simple...
I've changed my opinion, Game & Watch should be moved up one tier cause he's simply better than Yoshi/Ness/Zelda.
The meta drives this list: G&W does okay against fastfallers and DireVulcan places high with him. We don't see any1 placing high with Yoshi/Ness/Zelda.
G&W rapes fastfallers and does well against normal-gravity characters like Mario and Young Link. Floaties aren't hard but none of G&W's cool stuff really works against them so it's a hit and run battle.
This thread always has something to entertain me haha. Rick has a good point on rankings inside tiers though, I guess you could do it.

High

so long as "the rest of the non mid tier" doesnt include DK, im fine with that
G&W does not "rape" or even do well against fastfallers. He gets owned by three moves and dies at 60% on every stock.
If you suck at G&W, sure...I don't know what three moves you're talking about and G&W can survive past 100% if you know how to DI at all

agreed. ive only played one "decent" G&W and killed him at percentage no less than 90%

There is no way G&W does great against them, its maybe a 6-4 in Fox/falcos favor...

If you are a low tier and you go 6-4 against Fox/falco then you're doing well.
If you are a bottom tier and you go 6-4 against Fox/falco then you're doing great.

Actually Roy goes almost even with Fox.
Fox is Roy's single good matchup.
Roy needs to be with Koopa, Mew2, Pichu, and Kirby at the bottom.

Yes, Roy and G&W do semi well vs spacies but that should not move them from the bottom 10...
you have to see how they do vs Marth, Peach, Falcon, Ganon, Ics etc etc
G&W's only problem matchups are the three high-tier characters: Marth, Peach, and Sheik. In order from hardest to not as hard.

And there are TONS of Marths and Sheik at tourney's......even Peach is pretty popular...

he's so glitchy with dthrows
roy also does better against a lot of the upper tier characters than g&w does

There are 4 key factors in the Marth/Fox match up.
Grab game/Gimp kills/edgegaurding/Camping
If Fox gets a grab, he gets 1 to 3 uairs on Marth.
If Marth gets a grab it leads to death.
Marth 1 Fox 0
Fox kills at 0% Marth Kills Fox at 0%, but Fox is a definite kill with his shine.
Marth 1 Fox 1
The edgegaurding game has no need to be discussed.
Marth 2 Fox 1
Camping is where the match can either break even or Marth can take it home.
Yeah, Fox can run around and rack 80% in lasers damage. But when the time comes to end Marth's stock with an attack(upsmash or grab upthrow upair most likely), chances are that Marth will grab Fox and Fox will die.
Marth can also semi camp Fox to.
Marth and Fox is stage dependent, either Marth wins the match up or its even.

Even if you grant marth instant death from a grab, the match is still in fox's favor. I'm not entirely sure why you say that if fox approaches marth that he is almost guaranteed a grab. To say that Marth has an advantage on fox is just stupid really.
