Hey Ive been searching the forum for a efficent way to short hop with Fox and so far nothing:( .Ive read post on it but i cant get it down. I can MAYBE do it 20-30% of the time but never 50-60% or that oh so very speacial 100% which If achived you would all have 1 less smasher around cause Id die from sheer joy.If any one can give advice or vids any at all that would be great.

Thanks

Practice. There is no 'easy way' to short-hop if you don't ingrain the timing in your muscle memory.

There isn't any timing involved. The game registers how long your thumb is on the button, then determines whether or not it's a short-hop, not at what time you do it.

hey man;

first point please dont die of happiness... it aint cool
when you can waveshine 100% then mAYBe be happy...

anyway having the sh at 100% and learning it with fox many years ago i can truly say...

GROW A THUMB NAIL! ; this allows you to flick the x or y and makes it a great deal easier; the flick technique (i use the bottom of the x button as it has leverage) is slightly strange as many players hammer buttons aggressivly; but this more delicate approach teaches you to relax and as a whole improves your game...

I use Y to shorthop. I slide my finger off Y onto A or B to do the desired result. You should pretend like you're snapping your finger (thumb) on the Y button, so you don't stay on the button for anytime at all. The only trouble with this is shffled uair because tilting the control stick up might make you jump, and the c-stick is kind of out of reach with this method.

Use the X Up or Y button. "Lightly" Same with everyone.

When I learned, I did the "Tumb Nail" as so defined above. Just slide your nail off of the button and watch the results. Of course you should practice just short hopping, dont try to add any ariels just yet, just make sure you get the feel for short hop.

P.S. a thumb nail isnt as bad as you think, just use it lol it can be any length :P

It's not hard at all. Just play a lot and you'll get it down eventually. And it's as FastFox's DEAD BODY says.

See if this link helps you out:

It's the method I use to shorthop. I also made a video which shows my hands on the controller shorthopping.

I agree it just takes practice, when you do master it you'll start thinking how crap you were before.

I can get normal SH'ing standing still in practice easily.

Running I can get it about 50% of the time.

The problem is when I try to add other things in, I usually can't SH at all ~_~

I think I'm just pressing down to hard (which in turn makes me press down longer), but I was wondering if anybody else had these problems.

Oh well, I'm getting better at it the more I do it :P
