Wall Teching

Hello the problem of the day is wall teching with Foxs Fire Fox. I find it hard to do because I have no idea when to press what in which direction.Ive been trying to Idont know "geuss" the thing for about an hour and in my hour of need I need advice any at all will do . ive seen all the AHTP vids and I still cant get it right What am I doing wrong.I dont have a memory card any more :( so I cant try it on FD so I head towards Fountain of Dreams is this ok?

Hold R or L within 1/3 of a second before hitting the wall, regrdless of being hit before pressing it. Hold it until you tech.

You don't really need to hold it. You can click it and then tech afterwards with your finger completely off of the button entirely.

I didn't know that 93TillInfinity, thanks! Without holding the button down, it makes it easier to Smash DI, so you have a better chance of teching the hit. Awesome!

that you have to hold l or r

Nope, you only need to hit it. To test it for yourself go to training mode with Marth for example, and put a motion sensor bomb ontop of the stage right near the edge on 1/4 speed. Drop down, go to hug the wall with your up-b and sweetspot, and click L/R and release it right after hitting the up-b while holding towards or up/towards the stage. You should be able to click and let go of it before you even get near the edge and still tech after the explosion.

can you put it on 1x speed to practice edgeteching this way?
cause i want to learn how to edgetech 100% of the time

yes you can, thats how i learned to tech. keep in mind you can tech at the same time as you press up-b with characters like marth and mario.
