Here's what I suggest. Learn these in the same order:
Jump-Canceling
Learn how to do JC'd grabs (I press X+R) and JC'd up-smashes. Make sure you can jump-cancel both the shine and shield into those moves. Once you master JC'd Grabs, make that's the only way you grab with Fox. That's pretty much it for jump-canceling.
Shorthopping
Some people find shorthopping extremely difficult with Fox. They're probably trying to shorthop like they do with other characters (who have more lag before they jump). Find a comfortable method to shorthop with Fox and stick to it. In my Fox Movement Tricks thread (at the top) look up shorthopping. There's a link to a good technique for shorthopping. Video included as well.
Shffling
Learn to shffl. It's actually pretty easy. It's like doing a shorthop, doing an aerial, then pressing Down+L. The down and the L are one motion.
Shffled Drillshine
Learn how to drillshine - just a shffled drillkick, immediately followed by a shine.
Wavedashing
Learn to wavedash with Fox.
Waveshining
Now try to learn waveshining. Shine, WD, Shine, WD etc.
JC Shine
Learn to JC and shine. You'll then be able to shine out of your shield and out of shine. I do this by holding down and then sliding my thumb from Y to B.
SHL
Shorthop plus laser plus fastfall.
SHDL
Slide your thumb from Y to B and then press B once more again. You'll do two lasers in one shorthop.
Firefox Stall
Good way to become invincible on the edge. Let go of the edge and immediately Up+B so you grab the edge again.
I guess you could go ahead and learn those techniques first. Then go to the Fox Movement Tricks thread and read all the moves there. Master the ones you like.
joke! -_-
but if u wud like to take it seriously. sure y not, im sure ur pro if u can.

I suggest just reading a guide and learning whatever the guide mentions in whatever order the guide mentions. That way you're not all confused about what to learn and how you should learn it.

SHDLs are unnecessary, therefor, you shouldn't worry about learning them first hand. But If you've mastered most of Fox's techs and have nothing else to do, practice that I suppose. Learn Essential techs for Fox, pretty much what else Dalal mentioned. and yes, stay using Ckit's guide.

Omni's guide is fairly helpful on teaching the basics too. It's what I'm using right now, and it was alot easier for somebody new to fox like me, than CunningKitsune's guide.
And yes, I gave both guides a readthrough and a chance ~_~;
Although, after I'm finished with Omni's guide on fox, I'll probably like Ckit's guide more in the end :p

I'd personally advise you to learn all of your techs (as well as all of the moves that Dalal said), especially ledge-teching for recovery. Even though I don't use Fox nearly as much as I use Falco (since Falco is my main), I find it essential for the space animal users to master teching in all aspects. I'd advise you to master the regular recovery teching, and to definanlty master ledge-teching (in-place tech, jump-tech). They'll save your life.
*Just incase you don't know how (exactly) to ledge-tech*
Ledge-teching explained: 20 frames before you get hit (1/3rd of a second), hit L/R and C-stick towards the stage for the smash-DI so that you can tech (it also helps to grind the wall with the Up+B as you're recovering). If you hold the control stick up, you'll jump tech. If you hold the control stick towards the stage, you'll tech in place.
NOTE: Certain percentages are dependants upon whether you can tech the attack or not. For ex., you can't tech a d-smash from Falco when you're at 0 - 40%.
How to practice it: If you don't have anyone to help you, go to Training mode, pick Fox (your character), get a motion sensor bomb and place it on the top of the ledge. That'll be used in place of the attack.
Hope that helps.

I thought it was 40 frames before you got hit >_>... I'm probably wrong.

I still have some trouble ledge-teching during actual matches. Does it matter if let's im doin the firefox, can hit l/r and c-stick smash during the firefox in anticipation of them hitting me w/o any bad effects if they don't hit me? In other words, can i ledge-tech during my firefox so that if they hit me i ledge-tech and if they don't but i already hit all the buttons does anything happen that could screw me up, like automatically rolling onto the stage or somethin?

No, if you push all of the buttons while you're in your firefox animation of movement, nothing will happen to you that can punish you generally. However, if you do c-stick towards the stage a bit later than you should, you may come up with a bair, which really isn't a bad thing since it'll most likely hit the opponent and get them away from you. You have to press L/R for the ledge tech and about 15 frames later (5 frames before you get hit), c-stick towards the stage to Smash DI the attack to pretty much insure that you'll ledge-tech it.
