I been trying to waveshine these days and i could get about 2-3 off, then i accidentally do a illusion instead or dodge down instead. I was wondering if any chance i was making these mistakes because i use the y button to jump and R to shield???

me newb:( any ways u guys practice this differently or just keep trying?

i could wavedash really easy but the part with the shine just screws me over

I use Y to jump and L to shield, and I can waveshine just fine. Practice is what you need my friend. Practice on the timming and avoid hitting side b.

Yeah that exact things happened to me before. Is natural. With time and practice it will be gone.

Make sure that when you are going back and forth from the wave dash to the shine that you return the control stick near the neutral position. I also use R for shielding/dodging, it doesnt make that much of a difference. Also this is a great time to get your reflexes down on canceling the illusion. A lot of good fox/falco players are able to cancle if they hear a unwanted illusion. (You can read up on it in one of the stickied Fox guide.) Just keep practicing.

i have crazy headaches with waveshining too....i jump with y tahts the problem its so ranodm when it works..it seems if i wait a little longer its easier to waveshie than trying to do it on the first frame....i practiced for 20 min....i guess it takes way longer than that

sinece i cant do it to well..i just practice wd like crazy and jcshines and wd to jcshine to warm up.

Illusioning would be caused by pushing the b button too soon.

Spot dodging would be caused by holding shield too long.

It's all pretty much timing, it took me about a week of practice to short hop consistantly. wave dashing came after that, then l-canceling, wave shining. I find that the more you know the faster you learn.

or illusioning could mean your moving the stick too late. moving the stick faster is better than pressing the b-button slower, so you can get used to doing it faster. =D

I looove the waveshine. It took me a while to get used to it.

First, i practiced shine, reset my fingers, then wavedash. I didn't worry too much about wd'ing immediately, just before the shine ends to get the motion down. Take it easy, you don't need to work at breakneck speed at first.

you need to have wavedashing be a perfectly natural part of your game in order to effectively waveshine. The biggest problem I had was that I wasn't wavedashing perfectly. It's kind of a jerky finger motion as compared to a normal wd because you need to hit shine, let go, then quickly wd. It will smooth out as you get used to it.

One thing that helped me was in a match, once you kill the opponent, do a couple waveshines. It gets you used to using the move at full speed without the threat of getting kicked in the face.

L-cancelled dair and nair into waveshines are so brutally fun :D

(oh yeah, and L-cancelled dair into shine then jumpcancelled grab is a nice tactic against opponents who anticipate your shine and hold their shield a little longer)
