Counterpicks?

What are some good counterpicks for Link and who is it good to counterpick for? I'll put it on my sig as soon as we get a name but I play a lot with a Falco,Shiek,fox and marth.

what exactly do you mean by counterpick for Link? is it, who does well against him? or what characters do well against him?

Umm...I mean if you are a Link player and you put in a bad matchup(something less suited for Link), who would be a good alternative and who would be a good idea to use this alternative with? Basically another character choice on your part.

Best reply ever. It doesnt mean anything what people say the tiers are and the counter picks are. If you suck horribly with Fox, you shouldnt play him just because he is top on the tier list.

If you can manage a good falco, use him. He does good against fox most of the time and I hear he does alright against falcos. Of course, that could just be a rumor. Oh, he also does good vs Shiek. You should be able to handle Marth with Link and if you know the matchup well you can do decent vs Fox and Falco (although falco handles them both better) but Falco is the best person to use vs shiek except the ICs or maybe fox (IMO falco does better).

I know I can play as y.link because I started as him.(well after I unlocked him) and I'm getting better with Pikachu. I can handle both Marth and roy pretty well. But then again this is just to the standards around here. I'm the only one who can wavedash and I barely can.

but yea, just use who you are good with. and you better get to wavedashing too as well as working on the other techs.

i main Link myself, and i secondary Falco, cuz he's a GREAT supplement to Link, who has trouble against Sheik and Fox. If you can learn Falco, do it. Otherwise, try to pick a character that's good against Fox and Sheik, who are really Link's worst match-ups.

stage-wise, FoD is Link's best stage cuz it utilizes his hookshot, platforming, and projectiles well. Link is really dynamic, so he can work on pretty much every stage, just be smart about it. don't fight Sheik on FD and don't fight Fox on Corneria or PokeStadium, unless you're feeling REALLY bold.

i use falco as a main, but i can play a lot of characters pretty well. i can play a decent falco, fox, marth, IC, sheik, jiggs, ness (still getting use to him), both marios, luigi, and CF. with everyone else ill have a brain hemmorage figuring out how to play them correctly.

OK I've been experimenting, and I had a tourny at my friends house last weekend and I faired pretty well. I came in third and lost to a uair n00bing fox with my Link. All he would do is spam lasers try and grab me, throw me up and bam. Even then it was a close one. I've come to the conclusion that my only problem now is my friends Shiek. He's way to fast and I've always played fox once and awhile. So I ran fox against him yesterday and actually made it a pain for him to win. So I've decided to use Fox for shiek and that Link can handle everyone else. How does this sound to other people?

I find Doc helps me the most against people that counters my Link... Falco does as well, but I just don't like using top tier characters =]

I'm guessing you haven't fought a good Falco lately, cuz he gives Link a HELL of a match between SHL's and pillars. Fox doesn't fare too well against Falco because Falco can shine-combo Fox into oblivion. Falco also does pretty well against Falco for the same reasons, you just have to be faster.

But kanzaki has a point, Mario and Doc both give Fox and Falco a heck of a time because of their capes and throw combos. So if you can, see if you can pick up Doc or Mario for fighting Fox and Falco, since Link doesn't do too well against them. Between Link, Fox, and Mario/Doc you should have the entire cast covered in terms of counter-picking.
