View Full Version : Ganon

I think the monster of Ganon should be in Brawl, either as a separate character or in a transformation from Ganondorf like Zelda/Sheik. He would be a hulking character like Bowser and Donkey Kong. The game needs more of those.
Got any ideas for his moves? His moves would probably include his trident from the older games and the two swords from Ocarina of Time.
Here's my ideas:
A's: Various moves with two swords. Smashes have shadow stun.
B: Shoots a fire bat. Possibly chargeable or homing. Fire Stun.
Side B: Swipes with trident. Perhaps throws like Link's boomerang. Shadow stun.
Up B: Extended jump and unsleashes several firebats in several directions. Fire Stun
Down B: Thrusts down with swords in similar fashion to Link's down A in Melee. Also releases: Two dark energy waves or fire bats like Kirby's up A in melee, or a close-range all-around shadow attack. Shadow or Fire Stun.

Well Ganondorf himself actually fits fine with DK and Bowser in the heavyweight area.
Ganondorf indeed needs other moves, but please... No more transformation characters. Transformation is dull and overused. Ganondorf easly could have other moves instead of changing into Ganon.
And please dont come up with... Ganondorf would change into Ganon after a cetrain %. Because who the hell would LET you go that far?

Well, I mean a huge, hulking beast, not just powerful moves. And Zelda/Sheik is the only character I know of that uses transformation.
And good idea! You have yourself to blame...

This was discussed in this thread, I would have posted sooner but whoever started it can't spell Ganon....

Ganondorf is already a hulking beast in Smash. He's got the strongest moves in Melee, even stronger then Bowser. Plus he's most likely getting a sword to, that probarly means even more power moves. I dont see why Ganondorf should transform, it'd make him broken which isnt good. :embarrass
And I wasnt hinting out something. :p Yes Zelda is the only transformation character in Melee, lets keep it like that. It makes her more unique.

Argh! I mean SIZE! Bowser and Donkey Kong are the largest characters currently. I'd like Ganon to match them. And Zombie Cola, it appears that that topic starter wanted to discuss Ganondorf, and didn't know the difference between Ganon and Ganondorf (or was too lazy to add the -dorf). Ganondorf is a mighty dark wizard, and Ganon is a monstrous alternate form of Ganondorf. This is to discuss Ganon-specific moves and such. Maybe he could launch the fire bats from the final battle in A Link to the Past, perhaps like a shadow ball!

I read up until you said "Transformation of Ganondorf like Zelda/Shiek" then I realize you're a noob and scrolled down to tell you it. Drop it. If there are any transformations then that will spoil Zelda/Shiek's uniqueness and i will run outside and shoot myself.

Yes, it would spoil Zelda/Sheik's uniqeness, BUT this topic is about Ganon in general. I said seperate character or transformation. And it's also a bad idea to skip reading all of a topic, me being a noob or not. If you had read down, I didn't focus on the transformation. It was just an idea. So all you do is give the impression of being ignorant.

No, he is refered to as Ganon in WW, the name changes throughout Zelda history, and is even mispelled in the original. Nintendo has never officially stated which is which.

Well, I consider it the difference beteween Ganondorf and Ganon in Ocarina of Time; the humanoid (but definitely not humane) and the monster. He said a new move set for Ganon; thus, I believe he was talking about the humanoid who already existed in Melee, not the beast.
Zombie Cola

Well lets nitpick then. He is human as he is Gerudo, there is only one male born to the Gerudo tribe every century, so he is in fact human. Or as human as characters in the Zelda universe can get.

OK! I made it 'humane' in the first post! Can we get back on topic now, please? Ganondorf's humanoid, and Ganon's a beast. I'm talking about Ganon, he was talking about Ganondorf.

Ok, so you want the giant blue pig? Well I say no because the Zelda antagonist is already represented, and there were 3 other characters from the LoZ series in melee, we don't need double representation of the same character, even if he is in a totally different form. We need to leave spaces open for new representation.

Hey, there's 4 Mario characters! And no, he'd look like the Ocarina of Time version, which is way cooler (or the Twilight Princess version, if there is one). I'll try to post a pic soon.

The OoT version is literally too large to scale down.
http://i112.photobucket.com/albums/n164/ZombieCola/ganonfinal.jpg
He was nearly the size of Castle Hyrule. I am all for them scaling big characters...Ridley, Bower..... but this is too much. He has the trforce of power and it "reflects whats in your heart" ....the game said it not me. Anyway, he is supposed to be monstrous, scaling him down would take away the epic feel of the boss battle, he is not supposed to be small enough for link to get into a hand to hand with....much less pikachu/
Light Arrow

Well, I guess that would be a problem... But he would also probably look like the Twilight Princess Version, if there is one. And it's the power of the Dark World, twisted by Ganon, that turned characters into a reflection of their hearts. And that's in A Link to the Past, not Ocarina of Time. (aLttP Link got turned into a pink bunny rabbit). All Ganondorf did in OoT was use the Triforce's power to transform himself into a monster.

Well by that logic Link should have had a transformation as well. Anyway, Ganon is in TP, but all they have said thus far is to expect something huge (in relation to ganondorf) honestly, the only thing I can think of, logically, that they could be hyping Ganon for, (and the one thing im hoping for) is that he may be a possible ally. I mean, there aren't a lot of things to do with him at this point, not so big that they would discuss it on the TP homepage.
I think it would be nice, as long as he doesn't get chain-grabbed to death by shiek. I would like to see ganon with his moveset from the 64 though.

ganon from OoT was not as tall as hyrule castle! are you crazy? i remember him being about 1/4 taller than link! anyway i really want this but people dont seem to like it. for ganondorfs new moveset he could have a transformation, a brawl move or a special circumstance (zamus) transformation into ganon, a larger heavier stronger version of ganondorf with more melee based moves. i imagine him using dual axes with moves similar to a gerudo guard from OoT.

Well if it'd stop Missingno. and glitch themed character and stage ideas....
Anyway, whilst it would be quite nice for Zelda to have more representation in Smash Bros. I doubt Ganon (in any form) will make it in if Ganondorf is returning.

Ganon is a bad idea because you shouldn't have boss fights in Smash.
Smash = Human vs Human. Keep the boss fights for Metroid and Zelda.

Hey everybody, I gots a crazy idea: maybe beastie Ganon could appear as G-Dorf's Super Smash? He'll transform, go crazy on everybody outside of player control, and then change back.
Just a thought...

Well, what do you call Bowser? He'd just be another character. And human vs. human would elimate a LOT of characters; Kirby, Pikachu, Fox, etc...
And good idea, HiddenTiger!

HiddenTiger's got the right idea. Personally I think he should act like a sort of temporary ultra-power-boost-thing where you have a dozen or so seconds to smash the stuffing out of everything until Ganon reverts back into Ganondorf. Either that or a cinematic of him beating up one particular character ala Link and Kirby's Super Smash, but I think my idea's funner. :P
Ganon being a transformation for Ganondorf, while sort of pushing the 'transformation' gimick, would atleast be leaps and bounds ahead of the idea of making Ganon a seperate character.
