Killing the drill shine

Its the only reason I lose to My friends fox in half the matches. becasue of how much damage he racks up with drill shine. Any suggestions on how to coutner it?

:yoshi: I think he's saying to wavedash back when Fox is approaching with the drill.

The only way to really stop or counter this technique is to see it coming and get out of the way beforehand. Once you get hit with the first kick of the drill, it's game over. Just don't be too predictable when getting out of the way and fall for empty shorthops or stuff like that.

If he's l-cancelling the drill(which i'll assume he is) then you won't have time for that. I think what quaxcalibur means is anticipate the attack, wavedash back and dsmash...maybe

You could also try using a jab on him mid SH. It should out-prioritize the drill.

If you get caught in it, just DI as best as you can and make sure you get your shield out when/if he messes up.
