OK, a couple months ago, I had a friend tell me, that when you use any aerial, if instead of short hopping forward, you shorthop backward and do the aerial, you pretty much can't get hit, but you can hit them. Is the idea of doing an aerial against momentum a good idea. In another way to explain it would be, take link forward air, if you shuffle it towards your opponent, that would be not good. If you shuffle in place that would be better. And if you di the opposite direction, and shuffle an aerial that would be best.

its good for spacing fair or if you're retreating say you were against CF it would be good idea to use retreating attacks. asside from that its not a bad idea really I may try to incorperate this into my game. o_o;

I totally forgot about it, and yesterday I remembered, and I'm like, lemme try it on the next guy I play. So the first time I tryed it, My opponent came forward to attack, and I did the back shuffle and he couldnt hit me but my sword hit him, and I was like, maybe this isn't a bad idea. Because it's like, see this is my problem in the past, I would land a nair going forward, but right after, i would get hit. so im guessing that happened because of the forward momentum. I think this may fix this problem.

A backwards shffled fair is better to use when the situation calls for it, of course, and vice verse; also, use of the c-stick is widely preferred.

Both forward, stationary and backwards shffls are good. If you just shffl backwards your opponent won't walk into your attacks and you will eventually have nowhere to go but forward once you reach the ledge, and that takes away options. shffling backwards is not "better" then forwards, it has completely different uses. shffling backwards should not be used as a replacement for shffling in place or forwards, but it is a good defensive tactic against people who shffl towards you a lot (unless you happen to be playing vs Marth or Roy, they outrange you anyways).
