Solid Snake for Brawl a bad idea?

I've been asking my friends and they think that having Solid Snake in Brawl is "dirtying the franchise." Since Solid Snake is not owned by Nintendo they think it's wrong. I think it's perfectly fine since Metal Gear Solid: Twin Snakes was on GameCube, so it's been with Nintendo at least. Plus, Solid Snake is wicked awesome. What does everyone else think?

3rd party characters would've happened sooner or later in the franchise. I'm just surprised they started with Solid Snake, but I guess historically speaking he has the same significance to Nintendo as Sonic does, give or take.

Besides, now I sort of have to get into the series now, so I appreciate the character more. That's what I did for the Ice Climbers and attempted to do with Fire Emblem.

I don't think he's a bad idea. There ARE better, more apropriate character choices Konami could have made (Castlevania characters, for example) but on the whole, Snake will be a fine addition, and has really opened the door to nearly every character who has ever been on a Ninty Console.

It's not poetic, like Sonic, it's not Deserving, like Geno, it's just... Fun. Kojima loves to please the fans...

And what about all the people who are suddenly Pit fans despite the fact that until recently they didn't even (and in many cases still don't) know just what in the hell Kid Icarus is. And what about Marth and Roy and the Fire Emblem series in general? The Super Smash Bros. series has JUST that much impact...

LOL. Seriously, I've played almost every MG game and when I saw Snake in the box it gave a tear to my eye. Speaking of the box it should totally be his shield in SSBB.

Snake was a good move really. He is popular, he opened the door to 3rd parties, and they got him for practically nothing. As for the character itself, yeah he is pretty cool, it will be slightly difficult to think of a moveset (note: I said slightly so don't jump on my case) but other than that, he should fit in easilly. I have to say though, I expected to see Sonic before Snake.

Not really Metal Gear has always been a very very popular series for Playstation gamers, recently some Nintendo gamers have gotton into it but it has always been
popular.

Xianfeng, you're not happy unless you're disagreeing with something, aren't you? I mean, whining about Rare and stuff is acceptable to a point, but to belittle an entire country and its entire culture and people just because you don't know anything about it is extremely offensive. I'm not even going to bother trying to correct you, since there is just way to much to start with.

Anyhow, I don't see how adding Snake was a bad idea. He's finally opened the 3rd party door, allowing chances for previously inelligible characters. Even better than that, now that Snake's in Konami is going to be helping in the development (at least from what I hear). I know that Hideo Kojima is designing that MGS level we saw in that one screenshot. Kojima has always made very good games, and I can see him being a great addition to the Brawl staff. Lets just hope he doesn't bring along those lengthy cutscenes from MGS into Brawl. You know, the kind where you can put down the controller, go fix yourself a plate of nachos, come back, eat the nachos, and you still can't get back to the game because they're still talking... Anyway, where was I? Oh yeah. No, Snake was not a bad idea.
