What Style vs. a Falco?

What do you guys think is the best style vs. a Falco. I usually find my self being pretty aggressive. I found out if I stay back and play the projectile game, I just get interrupted by a lot of SHLs. If I go up close and personal, I usually fair better but I don't really get to pull of a long combo because he uses his shine to break out of it (by hitting me). Any tips?

well when I play against Falco I usually play agressivley aswelll. I full jump over the SHLs and try to reverse grab into some sort of combo to rack up DMG. U-throw to Uairs on falco works pretty well too. ur Nair will over prioritize fire falco too so thats useful for edgeguarding him... thats pretty much all i gotta say. GL HF, falco is annoying!

you have to make him use the shine while you are approaching him, you could shorhop and throw bomb then waveland forward, make him use te shine so u can hit him or get close to him or maybe a throw( i dont recommend it so much because you can miss it).

I find being aggressive works too. I use alot of up throws into as many up tilts as I can do before he gets hit away. Also if you take out a bomb and walk towards him, he might put up his reflector and you can just up and b him.

One of the methods would be slow and steady, but at a range that you know you can Hook it.
Hook Shot>>Dthrow>(DashDance)>Tech Chase.

Once in high % knock him of the stage. Link has some sexy edgeguarrding methods including the sex kick (my fave aerial ^_^), the Bair, or even the Spin Attack.

While edge guarding, if you're too far, throw a boomerange straight forward to interrupt their side b, forcing them to do fire falco or what ever. But if they're already level with the stage to do their side b, I find that shooting an arrow usually stops them. But in my opinion, the best edge guarding against a Falco is to just jump off and sex kick, it out prioritize both of Falco's side and up b. Just be careful when they side-b, because if you sex kick too early and it retracts, or too late, you just got meteored =[

I find the best approach while they're SHL is block one with your Hylian Shield, then jump in with a boomerange at a downward angle.

I play projectiles aggressively. I try to jump up, and hit with a boomerang or whatever I can long enough to hit with a bomb. Then after I hit with the bomb I descend with nair or whatever you prefer, and never ease up on the pressure. I also shieldgrab.

Falco is the hardest character in the game to grab. At that with Link's easily punsihable grab.

I also shieldgrab.
For most characters, you can rely on this, but not Link and his grab. Link can't even grab inbetween Falco's pillar like other characters.

Yes, once you get a grab it, you have a good chance to rack up some damage as long as you don't screw up.

And a good suggestion it was, especially since it can work out to be very effective. It's just that it's so hard to pull off :(

Just...full jump a lot and be offensive. Abuse the utilt for all it's worth because if you hit with it falco is screwed (unless hes at a very low %, in which case he just gets hit once). Anything that hits falco up should be used (dsmash, utilt, even the fsmash at low damages because of the second hit) and also use things that lead into grabs if done at the right % (nairs from around 20-40?, bairs from around 20-50?). If the falco misses an L-cancel you had better punish him, because one grab can lead him off the edge and into an easy nair (or ftilt) edgeguard. If you get shined smash DI it so he can't combo from it.

For projectiles, full jump and throw everything you have if he tries to SHL you a lot, that can keep him out of the air (either that or powershield). Try and keep a bomb handy because falco approaches from the air and can't do **** about a bomb thrown at him in the air unless you let him catch it (aim high or low to prevent that).

Don't play him on FD, or Yoshi's story (that's kinda just personal preference though). FoD can even the fight out a lot as can battlefield. Dreamland isn't great but it isn't that bad IMO.

Nah, not IC eventhough I'd rather use IC instead of Fox. IC can get raped by Falco if the Falco knows what he's doing (laser grab + down throw, DI the chain grabs correctly to get out easily, blah).
I say Marth (for obvious reasons and most Pros like Azen and Ken counterpick Falcos such as PC Chris with Marth) or Peach (since Mew2king and Ken tell me that Peach vs Falco is even. Also, Vidjo's Peach gave PC ALOT of trouble at FC6 and Mikael usually always beats Bombsoldier). Both are easier to use that IC and Fox as well.

I actually use falco vs falco because falco is also my counterpick for fox. I figure it's an even matchup then.
