Manuel you just cant say they are wrong.
We did have a big conversation before you came. We shouldnt even do notables because none of them deserve it.
We had a lot of discussion with Quinn and a few people thought it was okay.
We talked about Evan and thought he was pretty good.
Matt was more then pretty good.
Roby had mixed review of does he care/is he ever really gonna do anything.

You think that I have this personal issue with Roby.. Well I dont. EVERYONE was mentioned about the 10th spot. Yes even Quinn and Evan.

You cant just go out and say its total BS when you are not on the panel or have even BEEN there for the entire convo. You also say Roby is good because he does okay against you (You play him a lot) Then that means I can say the same with Jeff? I play Jeff A BUNCH and he can take me down to 1 stock more then any of the mentionable.
I also do have tournament logs.

Given, I'm not a panelist. But I've seen no special contribution of insight from any of the panelists that other members of the community cannot give. Ie, you four have the title, but the opinion+reasons are nothing special. Yeah, roby cares, in case you were wondering. I wasn't aware that I missed VITAL parts of the conversation. My bad.

Tiep also played Roby, and he did more than okay against him for someone who isn't on the PR at all.

I'm glad you have the tournament logs. Is it possible for them to be posted so everyone can access them? And if you're going to edit the 1st post, the correct date is (11/03/07) .

I find it surprising to see myself on there. In the last couple of months I've played only a handful of BC guys, Tiep being the only panelist I've played recently. I honestly don't think I did anything to stand out, but hey I'm not complaining.

Also, i don't really want to get involved in this whole "honourable mentions" argument which is ridicoulous to begin with and shouldn't even be an issue. It's one post that wasn't even on the front page that reflects very rough opinions that no one should honestly be offended by....

It's not like they were like "oh, we'll just plug all the smashers into our PR HONOURABLE MENTION COMPUTING MACHINE, and then see what it comes up with." It's just what the more educated (smashwise) and less biased (i honestly believe) players think. Shouldn't matter.

As far as 10th spot goes... it's the most obviously inaccurate spot... i haven't played robyextreme in awhile, so i don't have alot to base my own opinion off of. Manuel/Adam keep saying he's improved immensly... but they say that literally everytime i go to play him, and while i do notice improvement, it isn't huge...

I played both Gary and Troy out at UBC and found them to be close to the same in skill level. Troy is very very good at the game. As such, i believe Gary is very very good at the game... i do think he deserves it the most of all the people i've played besides the top 9.

The only problem with this is that Gary hasn't attended many tournaments... robyextreme has. However, i don't even remember seeing robyextreme do anything significant in the many tournaments i've been to that he has attended...

Anyways, the most logical thing to happen is for people to stop arguing since it's pointless, try to get both Gary and Robyextreme and whoever else thinks they deserve 10th to attend any tournaments that happen over the next little while, and maybe that will shed some light into the issue.

On a final note, as much as it pains me to say this (due to a slight background rivalry) I think Evan is also a definite contender for the 10th spot for the next update. I was impressed by his sheik and came quite close to losing to it at the last tournament. (On the subject of being honest, i was not impressed at all by his Fox or Jigglypuff from what i saw, no offense intended, just giving some feedback) But yeah, definately PR material if you keep improving that Sheik...

Yeah, i totally agree with david, its one thing to get upset about power rankings for a video game, that ultimately mean nothing but pride, but to get upset about honourable mentions to power rankings for a video game is just stupid.

Manuel you know just as well as i do, one of the main reasons of the PR, and why you would want to be higher, or me or anyone, im not just talking to you, is for PRIDE. You and I, and anyone else in the smash community who is christian knows about pride, and what it should be taken as, everyone should just chill out a bit about the PR, it's not that big of a deal, to me at least, if it is to you, that's fine, just don't get upset about it.

As far as im concerned not making the PR, or not making the honourable mentions isn't something to be upset about, same with moving down, these aren't the final power rankings of all and ever, if people don't like it, get better, and show that you deserve what you claim.

Believe me from my own experience, the panel is NOT bias, because of personal issues, theyre just doing there best, the majority thought Gary was better then Roby, i haven't played either in a long time, so i can't comment, but i trust that the panel made the right choice.

As far as im concerned the PR is about as accurate as possible right now, with the only exception being, i'm not sure who is better at the moment, Adam or Dieslow, but it's too early to tell, but im sure time will tell.

Also, Roby if you read any of this, keep in mind that you didn't get an honourable mention, or make the PR, but you did cause a large fight, because people wanted you on the PR, that itself is a pretty big accomplishment.

Congrats to all who moved up, and good luck to all who wish to move up, and just have fun.

I also think some thanks are needed to the panelists, all of them, because they make this thread, update it, spend hours thinking, making lists, and discussing it, all for free, and all they ever get in terms of thanks, is whining, so show a bit of appreciation.

P.S. I think Gimpyfish should take my spot on the PR, he's just too good.

P.P.S. On the note of evan, I as well think he is a good candidate for maybe taking that 10 spot, i wasn't impressed by his fox, and by his jigglypuff, but im too used to jigglypuffs to tell now, i was however impressed by his shiek, and not only just his shiek, but he had a decent falco too, his combos need work, but his edgeguarding was fairly good.

In case my opinion ever matters EVER for a LITTLE bit even though I'm NOT a panelist and probably don't meet any REQUIREMENTS including graduating from the SECRET BC PANELIST SCHOOL OF ARTS AND SCIENCES FOR THE INTELLECTUALLY GIFTED, Roby makes other contenders for that spot pale.

Either that or noobs can regularly do very well against #3, #5, and #6 just by playing them a lot.

They can. As I said before. Jeff can take me down to 1 stock and beat me MORE then #6 and under. People playing someone a lot get used to the other players play style therefore they KNOW how to play against you. (They know your mindgames, how you tech, where you DI and so on)
I also DONT remember seeing Roby doing good against Tiep on a regular basis. We also ALL know that Adam and Roby are best buds and probably play smash together the most and can learn each other from that.
AND Roby DID cause a large argument. Again I must say that YOU missed ALOT of the conversation last saturday.

It would just be my assumption that, no matter how much you play with someone, a developed smasher should still be hard to beat. Maybe Jeff IS good. But from what you're saying, he only plays you a lot, whereas I mentioned 3 people... Tiep, Roby and I often had smash time after work. That's probably why you didn't see anything. I'm not complaining about the P.R., either, I was more or less indignant that Roby wasn't even mentioned as one of the candidates for 10th. Either way, it doesn't matter at this point in time. I think the current PR is as close as it's ever been to being accurate.

Also, just because it's only one person "fighting" for what they think is right, doesn't make it wrong. I shall not follow a policy of appeasement =D .
