on one of the guides to link it says that if link is standing still or crouching then his shield would absorb the damage from a projectile or something like that.
so with that said, will the shield still absorb the damage when he is wavedashing?

Though you could try to use it like shield wavedashing.
wavedash -> stand still/block projectile -> wavedash
Maybe if Link's wavedash was better.
Actually near the frames at the beginning and end of the wave dash the stationary shield can block projectiles. I haven't checked the exact frames but generally right before you begin the wave dash and before the wave dash ends are moments where the shield will still block projectiles.

When facing a spaming happy Samus, I wave dash forward in between projectiles, the shield usually blocks everything.

"Hylian Shield - When standing still (or crouching) without an item in hand, Link's shield has the chance of protecting him from projectile attacks (including thrown items) if the projectile hits his shield), how nifty is that?"
Thats from Garde's Link guide.

The question was does it work when wave dashing. Please read the topic before posting.

so i guess it can't during the wavedash. but if it can then you must be genious with it to time it right

yeah i know he's moving but when wavedashing aren't you suppose to be standing still or crouching while moving?? i mean that's why luigi can do any move he wants after he wavedashes.

luigi has no traction, he slides like a mofo. he is in his standing animation after the wavedash, but he's sliding becuase he doesn't have any traction. try to CC with him, same concept.

Yes, you can block projectiles while sliding, but not during the jumping, dodge, or landing animation, so not really as you wavedash.
Technomancer basically has the right idea. Link doesn't slide much as opposed to Luigi or any character save Bowser for that matter. Near the frames at the very end of Link's wave dash he does have some, very unnoticable sliding in a standing position. If the projectile hits at those ending frames the shield will block the projectile, though this really won't help much in a real match. I know I did this in a vid once. I'll try to post it here in the future if I find it.
