which should i use?

I like link cuz he's a pimp, but I want a fast, agile, character, so I thought about using YL. Is that a good reason do use YL over his old counterpart, or can link be fast and agile enough to at least come close to catching up with YL?

If you want the faster character go with YL, but Link tends to have better matchups against almost everybody.

To the HDL's guide for the easy comparison! Both are fun and enjoyable, and it's neat to compare how a similar moveset works at different speeds, and what the slight differences are. I think YLink has a little bit more technical potential than Oldlink, but old link has time proven strategies and consistancy on his side. It's like comparing the lion tamer to the trapeze artist at the circus; just go with whichever one you like to watch (play) more.

Actually I'm pretty sure Y.Link can't be shine waved, not that he would do any better against fox. For speed, Y. Link is a faster runner and wave dasher. Link on the other hand is better at fast falling so he is a much faster shffler. Y.Link has better projectiles for comboing while Link has much higher priority close range moves along with longer range projectiles. Overall, neither character was meant to be played fast. They are good at Turtling and projectile comboing, both of which are slow strategies. Only make them fast when you get a chance like after starting a combo with a projectile. Look up the Germ combo videos on You Tube if you want to see a fast Link, though also look up the match between the Germ and Isaiah if you want to see how a fast link works in an actual tournament setting.

YL does have better projectiles. Longer stun, more damage and more control (but he lacks some range, not that range means much).

yea but i actually been watchin a few aniki vids and playin like him nowadays with link, so the WD and the sffl and stuff like that isnt much to me...imma prolly start usin YL more and just see how that goes

Use them both. Most people who play one are almost as good with the other. I used to use Y. Link instead of Link, then I randomly tried Link out and was impress at how well it was with him compared to my Y. Link. Then I consistently used Link and eventually used Y. Link again, same thing happened. Now I use them whoever I feel most comfortable with in whatever match up.

The only thing that Young Link beats Link at is speed. But Link isn't that slow, so i'd keep Link.

hmm, well, I agree that Y Link isn't that great, but Link is pretty ok. I mean, Link only really has to worry about Fox, Falco, and Sheik. Too bad most people who go to tourneys main those characters :( . A good number of well known players agree that Link isn't that bad it seems.

Use whoever you think fits you better. I personally use ylink as my 2nd. his speed makes him better than link. oh i dont know if its true, but i heard sheik counters link. but ylink does good against sheik.

Last I checked, I didn't ask how good fox was or how bad the links were, I asked which out of the two would fit me best, so stick to the topic buddy.

I think you should watch some germ videos, because he is so fast with link. If that as fast as you want just practice, but if you want something faster, then yeah, I think you should change

When fighting certain characters, I feel the same way thrilla. For me, it's mainly because of Y.Link's lack of KOing power.
