A strang Link vs Fox Glitch

I was i training mode practicing the waveshine on Link to get a better udnerstanding of this shine, but a few timse sotmhing, very strange happened, Link seems to get a phantom hit from fox's shine at a precise distance from him.

As in, the animation of the hit will play but also the animation of a power shield. and Link isnt effected at all, no damage, no knockback.

anyone else have this happen to them?

Phantom hits happen if the attack hits but the hit wasn't within the hit box. That is probably why it occurs at a precise distance. It probably won't help against a wave shining Fox. Your best bet is to CC and hope the Fox screws up.

If your playing against a Fox who is skiled at wave shining it is a bad idea. Sometimes the Fox will over shoot the wave dash if you cc. Also, try to put on your shield between shines in case the fox screws up a wave dash. Again, this won't really help either against a very skilled Fox. All you can really do is let the Fox wave shine you off the edge and from there pull off some crazy ledge tech skills.

I find it useful to DI in the direction that you're BEING shined, that way he pushes you too far. That, and just hold the shield ALL the time.
