I never short hop fast fall the u-air, just the rest of them.
what you wanna do for the shdl is slide your thumb from x or y to b then hit it again. but if you can't get it that's okay. it's really not THAT useful as much as it is flashy. there are other tech things more important to learn than that.

1. people say it's easier to do some stuff like JC shine and SHDL with Y, but I can do everything with X just fine.

2. It depends on the situation, and also you need to alternate the timing of the attack, for instance, wether it be near the ground or right after jumping. I can do shffl uair just fine with fastfall as soon as possible, but that might bew just me.

3. Yes it is, and as it was mentioned before, you must slide your thumb from Y/X to B. People say it's easier with Y, and almost impossible with X, but I have no problem doing it with X, just slide it to B asap, hitting A in the process(before you have left the jump animation, causing you to not attack).

Y and X are both fine as long as you dont use the control stick it sucks
fastfalling? always and as fast as possible, except for the uair, because sometimes you may have to fastfall it a bit later to get the full hits out...
